I've run my ritz 11000 km in 1 year. everything is fine with this car e.g. engine, space except ride quality and specially I knew it when I drove my friend's Punto. I really appreciate how Punto efficiently behaves with bad roads. its just amazing. I am keen to get better riding quality. is this possible if I change these bridgestone 165/80 R 14. without compromising fuel efficiency and safety. suggest me better alternative

The better alternative to good handling or road behaviour would be 185 section which will increase the road grip without affecting other parameters much. The punto has wider and bigger tyres  which makes it more comfortable when going over small potholes. To add to the tyres, the suspension is also well calibrated to obtain a good balance b/w handling and comfort. Hence, you cannot really compare the Fiat with yours. Try michelins or Yokohamas. One point to note is that if you change your tyres now, you will lose a considerable amount as your existing tyres wont be offered a good price. However, wait till the near end pf your tyre life and then consider changing, as this is not an issue which you cannot live with.

Thanks Sanshriand. though, Punto is also having 165/80 R14 so its difference of suspension for sure.

Sanshriand, I am having problem specially at rear. its bumpy for family purpose. so if I would change only rear tyres does it help ?

Amit,

All the 4 tyres of a car should be the same. You cannot just change rear tyres as per your comfort. That will result in bad ride quality.

As for Ritz, it is a lil bumpy at the rear seats, may be b`cos of its suspension.

Aah dont try the old F1 way of having wider rear tires!! Just joking buddy, you can increase road grip and handling and rough road capablities by increasing the width of the tyre, at the cost of a heavier steering.

You can choose pirelli for performance and Michellin for comfort. The difference is that the michellin has a softer sidewall which gives you a smooth ride. Usually, higher profile tyres can increase the comfort, but here, it is already 80 profile, hence there is no scope for further increase. However, switching to 185s may help in gliding over smaller potholes and obstacles easily.

Hmm. I think as I observe talking to you people here at this thread, there is very less space to do anything with tyres yet, specially untill they are run off their life. speedometer displays just 11k by now. so this will be almost completely stupidity to change all tyres right now and I am not even sure how much comfort I will obtain if I change them.

so now my focus is upon suspension. any space to tweak them ? though, perhaps I am going to open a new thread in "suspension" section but, if incase answer is "no" there is no use to open a thread then.

You can continue here as it will reduce clutter on the forum. You will be offered very low prices for your tyres so leave that option. Regarding suspension, that is a job which requires a lot of effort from your side and also a well knowledged, skilled tuner to do the job for you. and all these will come at the cost of losing your warranty and also considerable. Personally, from a short trip in the car, I feel the suspension is not something you cannot live with. Hence, I suggest you to wait for some time. If I were in your place, I would wait untill the suspension was wearing out and then replace them with aftermarket components. Also the same with tyres.
