BUT ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE AS SOON AS THE WARRANTY PERIOD EXPIRED. FIRST THE SUSPENSION BUSHINGS NEEDED REPLACEMENT  COST 5000/-

Amy,

How many kilometres has the car run in 3.5 years and what has been the road conditions and abuse that the car has been subjected to. I guess you would have to replace the suspension bushes for most cars if they have been subjected to much abuse over 3.5 years.

WITHIN NEXT 4 MONTHS HUGE SMOKE BROKE OUT UNDER THE HOOD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TRAFFIC REASON FAULTY RADIATOR FAN   COST 6500/-

Again, a radiator fan after 3 years shouldn't be an issue. BTW, why were you driving till smoke came out of the hood? Were you not watching the temperature guage?

WITHIN NEXT THREE MONTHS IE TODAY ITSELF I AM INTO THE SERVICE CENTER FOR NON WORKING AC  ESTIMATED COST     8000/-

Sorry to hear this. Normally ASC's charge an arm and a leg for even small jobs. If this is not yet entrusted to an ASC, can you have this checked outside?

THIE IN ADDITION TO REGULAR OIL CHANGE AND SERVICE COST OF AT LEAST 2500/- EVERY SIX MONTHS.

This is true for all cars. Not unique to TATA. In fact, all your experiences above are not unique to TATA cars.

In fact, cars do start having some problems or the other after 3-5 years. That's the reason why most people change their cars every 3-4 years.

Your bad experiences could also be due to the shoddy work done at the ASC. After your warranty period, it is normally cheaper to get your car serviced by other garages who have a keen interest in seeing that your ownership is troublefree.

spot on himanshu just received a call form the service center the ac repair would cost me 17,000/- plus taxes. by the way my car has done only 18000 odd kilometers in 3.8 months. if i calculate the amount spend on the repairs it should be almost as much as i spent towards the  fuel bill.

there is no way i can recommend this car to anyone on this earth.

Himanshu,

Please don't start a Safari vs Scorpio war here. There are enough threads discussing the merits and demerits of both; enough passionate users of both and enough people abusing both. Let's restrict this thread to what Rajan requires.

Anand,

Can you please guide me to the forum discussions on "Safari Vs. Scorpio"? I can browse myself but you seem to have a ready reference; please guide me if you're abstaining others from doing it.

Hi Rajarajan,

I own a Indica Vista Safire (Aura ABS). I was also in fix when I bought this vehicle. My Budget was somewhere between 4 -4.5 L . I had an option of buying Swift Petrol ( bit out of budget and long waiting time) and Beat, i10 etc. I compared the features that Tata was offering at this price. Vista was the clear winner there. I did check the reviews on the different forums about the after sales service of Tata . Reviews were really discouraging . Still I went against them and bought a Indica Vista.  The car offers you almost all features that you look out for but no quality. You have best in class space in this car but poor quality of plastics. But Still I will say this car is VFM for people having a low budget for buying a car.  I faced issues with window switches , suspension bushes, braking issue (most dangerous as brake pedal goes dead in bumper to bumper traffic with AC ON. No body in service team know how to resolve this) etc. Though all exepnses for changing parts were covered in AMC Smile but still its pain to visit service centre for all these issues. Also everytime I give my car for servicing, TASS team ends up creating a new issue in the car.

I have taken AMC as well as extended warranty for the Car. I am planning to sell my car as soon as extended warranty is over as I can't bear the cost of faulty parts after that.

I would suggest TATA cars to those who has enough time at leisure to visit the service centre every now an then to get the minor issues resolved. I bet nobody would like to see all these issues in his new car.  I still regret my decision of not going for some other better car.

This is a honest reply from a Car owner Smile

Hi prashant,

never heard of so many problems in  a car. unfortunately , it could be one of your cars that is at fault.

however, using tata vehicles for a decade now, i still feel they are absolute VFM. Never bought a petrol version though.

Are you by any change trying to brake when the clutch is not depressed. Many times i have felt so, as the programming of the engine is such that it automatically accelerates to maintain speed of 15 in 2nd and thrid gear and rpm of around 1,000, when the clutch is not depressed. if i find such thing happenning, i immediate depress clutch and brakes are applied....

Mr. Kinjal

If the car is in motion & we apply brakes without pressing the cluth, how will the brake go DEAD. the car will stop immediately. It will never go dead.

Prashant has a strange problem with his car never heard of.

Since the programing of car is such, that it tries to maintain minimum speed when the clutch is not depressed, (the car automatically maintains speed of 10 in 2nd gear, 15 in third gear, so even i you are not accelerating the car will maintain such speed at respective gears, surprising even on slopes). So when the brakes are applied and the speed falls below the minimum with released clutch, the engine maintains the programmed speed to keep the car in motion.

During this time, a person is applying brakes and at the same time the engine is accelerating automatically to maintain minimum speed. This creates a illusion that the brakes are dead. I think this is more noticable when the ac is on where the minimum speed to keep engine running is more. This is the reason why Shinkoo has complained of such thing only in traffic and not on highways. Hope i am clear on this....

I feel, it is not a problem, it is just to spend some time to understand the car.

I have learnt that Maruti cars are easy to drive, but Tata (infact new fiat cars) take more time to get used to it.

Trust me Indica Vista (fiat cars) is not that usual Tata car but it has lot more with fiat engines, which are gem of machines.
