well..at the beginning of this thread,we came to kno how One kg of LPG is equal to how many litres of LPg... NOW, can ne1 tell me ,1 kg of CNG is equal to how many litres ????......

cng cannot b converted to liquid ............. and cannot therefore not b measured in litres

natural gas 'ng' when compressed to over 200 bars pressure is referred to as compressed natural gas 'cng'

when natural gas is compressed to over 1/600th its volume .... it converts to liquid ... and is referred to as liquified natural gas 'lng'

Ravi,

I suggest if you could kindly post the "findings" of your comparison between LPG & CNG over here for the benefit of all.  Thanks.

Hi,

I don't know whether LPG is sold in liters or Kilos - but my science says that it has to be sold in Kilos - LPG is a gas that takes a liquid shape when pressurised - the density of this liquified gas is extremely dependent on the existing pressure.

So, a liter of LPG pumped in at very high pressure is lot more than a liter of LPG pumped in at a lesser pressure - imagine this that there is a bunk where in the pressure maintained is so low that the LPG converts into a gasseous state. The volume (liter is a volumetric unit) of any gas is extremely dependant on the pressure - even after liquifying, the pressure plays a major role - So, if LPG is being sold in liters, there has to be a norm for pressure at which it is pumped as well - 1 liter of LPG at a pressure of say 3 bar / 4 bar.

The only thing that remains consistant is not the volume, but the weight of it - one kilo of LPG is always one kilo - irrespective of one bar or two bar.

Regards,

K Prasad

1 kg LPG is equivalent to 1.66 litre LPG.
