This is my first posting.

I want to mention to Moderators of CarWale that why TWO names appear with each posting.  In my view one name is enough and that should be the Nick Name chosen by the member for the CarWale Community.  Please consider this Cool.

I was using Research -> Comparison.  I found it to very useful feature.  However, after selecting 4 cars, if I want to change one model, I have to restart the whole process.  Can be put an icon with each car Change/Remove to make it more versatile?  Does it make sense?

Thanks.

The reason for two names is because initially there were no user ids and the actual names were shown. So when the user name (nick name) was introduced almost a year back, actual name was intentionally kept along with user name so that we know the person from nick name as well as actual name.

For example, Moderator Banwari we knew as Banwari Lal Sharma. When user name was introduced he selected his as BLS. Now if the actual name was not there we would never know that he is Banwari. So actual name was retained.

And even after one year I dont think the forum has so matured in terms of users that just user name would help. There are many users who are regular but still the one's who are not regular, their count is much more.

Hope this helps.

Also there is always the possibility that two people will have exactly the same name (especially those who use only the first & last names). If only the real names are used, this will lead to confusion. Userids alone will solve this problem but as Anshu said, also showing the real name helps to keep people "real".

Agree with Rohit. It is better to have both the names.

@shersh - some of our members are not from India and many others keep going abroad for long stints. As of now we have cities of Indian origin only in the list. SO making a city compulsary is not a good idea.

You cannot change the user name (PDY) but you can change the actual name (Pravin) if you wish to by visiting the profile

Probably you tried to check the on road car price of a particular car in Satara/Pune and thats how it got updated. Did you use the check the on-road price in your city feature of carwale?
