Hi Sharmaji,

I was about to buy the swift petrol vxi but now in a confused state whether to go for swift or chevy UVA. The price wise almost both are same. Iam comparing Swift VXI and chevy LT.
Swift has the powerful engine and looks. UVA has looks and 76 ps engine. chevy's say that the milage willbe 15km/ltr. the ground clearance is 188mm whereas is swift its 170mm. which car is good. will that difference in ground clearance will have a big impact in smooth riding.. in our indian roads...I need safety, milage, looks and performance and the most important one the maintenance cost. I heard that chevys are costly in maintenance. is it so.. which will be the best option for me

which car out of these will give the riding pleasure. like ride handling and without any vibrations. please put on your experienced views on both these cars.

Finally, Iam bothered about the resale value of the car too.. which one willbe have better resalve value.

For me, per day i will be riding arnd 20 kms and monthly once arnd 700 kmslong trip.. I drive at gud speeds.. arnd 120kms. so which car will suit me.

Thanks

Dear Hariprakash,

High ground-clearance will not have any impact on ride-quality, yes, it might help if roads in your city are full of potholes. Don't go on ps numbers, U-VA is no match for Swift's engine performance. Both cars have almost identical mileage i.e. 10-11 kmpl in city. Swift will prove less expensive in terms of maintenance cost in long term.

Chevy U-VA's build quality is much better than Swift. Moreover it's very much spacious hence a confirm great ride. Maruti is king when it comes to resale. Swift will be anytime better than U-VA in terms of resale.

I think you will be able to decide now, which one is for you?

Hi Sharmaji,

Thanks for your words. i have one more question. The swift with smallwindows, when riding seems to be like we dont have much of road view. will it be easy to handle swift in city traffic when compared to UVA. will it be more comfortable than UVA.

In my position, which one you wil go for . please advise.

Thanks

and one more thing sharmaji,

which one will be better if i go for swift.. petrol or diesel. diesel engines makes more noise, less pick up, more vibration and high maintenance cost. they require a lot of run per day right.. for me i wil be driving 20 kms per day and per month one long trip of 700 - 1000 kms. so which one will be better for me.

Regards

I think, you should stick to a Petrol car only. 1400-1600 kms a month is not enough running for a Diesel car. As far as visibility is concerned, U-VA would be much better.

If you want to keep the car for a longer time, maybe 5 years or more and are capable of affording a little more in services and maintenance, go for U-VA otherwise Swift is the obvious choice.

i have a similar doubt. i dropped swift just for its rear is cramp and outside its heavy. my ride is less around 30 km per day.

maintenance cost wont create much problem if vehicle is good enough.they offer some package.but initial cost for aveo higher end Lt model with fully loded comes around 6 lacks in bangalore without ABS.

Sholud i go for it for better wait for logan fabia kind of vehicles.

Vijendra,

Skoda Fabia will come later this year and hopefully would be a better car than maximum available in the segment. But price of Fabia would be on higher side, I guess, it would cost you more than U-VA too. Logan is good car but won't be good enough for those who are seeking wonderful interiors, luxury.

You could test-drive Hyundai Getz also. U-VA is not worth 6-lakh rupees moreover if you plan to sell it off in 3-4 years. Resale would not be good for the car but if you don't like Getz also and cannot wait for Fabia then you don't have a choice, unfortunately.

Hi Sharmaji,

"U-VA is not worth 6-lakh rupees moreover if you plan to sell it off in 3-4 years. Resale would not be good for the car " - do you mean to say UVA will not be a good choice for me.. Iam much worried about after sales service, spare parts and resale value.. Iam confused again. please direct me.

Thanks

i think a better deal for uva can only be if we take the lower end model which will cost around 4.6- 4.7 lacks.

Otherwise this will be a costly car. Logan is also coming soon.Even year end many new cars like honda jazz, fabia and many more are supposed to come in india.

Maruti if plans for more options will be best case in think.
