I was considering UVA LS/getz 1.1 gvs/swift VXi. Since space is of importance to me, I chucked out swift. Between UVA and getz, I was really confused as getz has better service network(one next to my house). But finally booked UVA on sunday. As I have no plans of resale, I think UVA is lil better. I tend to go for highest variants, but I think 5.7(UVA LT and 5.05 UVA LS) is too pricy for a small car! So decided to stick with LS.  Also, there are absolutely no discounts on either getz/uva in this festive season.

All of you may be further happy to note that today UVA has dropped its price further for the base model which is now. 3.99 lac ON ROAD instead of Ex. showroom so no doubt it is now more easy on the pocket compared to Swift or other hatchbacks. Even i have been doing lot of R&D in spending the hard earned money since i am salaried guy and the car will at least last me more than 5 years unless it troubles too much. I presently drive Maruti 800 MPFI which is 2000 model and i am satisfied with its handling (it has even taken me up to Rohtang pass in HP), now i wish to upgrade to a more spacious car with reasonable higher power. Some reviews of UVA talk of underpower so i was even thinking of the latest Punto whose reviews also were not all positive, i20 is expensive and the salesguys are not very keen, Getz is being phased out, so is Accent, swift is now old car and awkward shape with a broad behind though inside that much space is not there, other maruti's like A star and Ritz do not inspire much by their road presence (Ritz even looks as if hit by a truck from behind). IN brief, in such scenario UVA looks refreshing and sales guys are positive, price is good, and 3 year maintenance package is great bonus. So what do you say friends!

It really beats me to even think of after sales price of a car that i have not even purchased! May be it is our mentality with jewellery and real estate that we always think of after sales. These days hardly automobiles are giving after sales value and people would generally like to go for new cars due to easy finance availability. I have seen some friends of mine who bought second hand cars and have spent good amount in its repair and frequent problems. Second hand car is good only if you buy it from a known person whose driving and maintenance you have seen. These are just my personal opinion, i do not mean to hurt anyone sentiments as it is a personal choice to think of after sales value; i only feel that in these turbulent times we cannot estimate what will be the cost of something 4 years down. Cars are meant to be driven and enjoyed and also for commuting from point A to B- it is just a question of our viewpoint! For some it is status symbol; my neighbor drives a BMW325 everyday to office total 10 km round trip and it cost him Rs.35 lac!

It is your right choice madam to stick to base model only (which i read today is now cheaper just 3.99 lac ON ROAD!) no point in spending 5.7 for UVA 1.2 engine, for this amount you why not even think of Fiat Grande Punto which cost 5.5 and 6.1 (1.4 petrol top two models).

hello dear friends,

i am sorry and not sure if i should make a statement to this thread in year 2009 when most of the post belong to 2 years ago and you may have made your decisions BUT i am about to decide for myself today thats why would like to offer my comments and seek the views of the moderator.

i think at 3.99 lac on road, UVA is nicely priced, though it is slightly less powerful than swift but has plenty of space, if one only looks for resale then swift is good buy but is has long waiting! i wish to drive my car hard and up to Leh in ladakh and would need your advise if UVA can do it, though i know Swift can do it- can someone advise what is necessary to negotiate the steep climb of the himalayan slopes, the sharp loops and icy roads! i have seen plenty of maruti gypsys doing this stretch effortlessly and Gypsy is 80 bhp i believe much less than 87 of swift and closer to 76 of Uva.

PL ADV ME IN CHOICE OF MY MIDSIZE SPACIOUS HATCH CAR, I AM WILLING TO GO EVEN FOR PUNTO AT 6 LAC PLUS BUT WAS CHEESED OFF BY ITS CHEAP INTERIOR BESIDES NOT MANY REVIEWS ARE ALL PRAISE FOR PUNTO!
