Krishna, Banwari et. all..

I do appreciate all the efforts you guys are making in this site and the forums the best ever I could see anywhere on the net. Agreed that there can be some slip ups, but if these are handled quickly, I think that is good enough. A point well raised by Krishna: Too much moderation will not encourage new users to participate with the same enthusiasm as they do right now.

Only suggestions from my side are, that

  1. Among Mods, you guys should agree to a schedule that normally someone or the other is moderating the threads everyday. A few days back, I felt that all the mods went missing and forums were hijacked by a host of such spams. That should not happen.
  2. Another sugestion is to provide an option of marking a particular thread or post as "Spam" by the users. That ways, it will be easier and faster for the MODs to take notice and take remedial actions. If on the other hand, people do not like a particular post and therefore mark it as spam, moderators can then explain to those users why heathy critisims should be there and should be taken in a right spirit.

Finally, Once again you guys are doing a great job! it is becuase of you guys and (giving a damn about modesty) the members of this forum, that this site is considered as the best. So keep it up, and keep making it better.

Himanshu, Thanks for the kind words, and the suggestions!

This was the standard practice when I was new to moderating. We had SMSes going back and forth, and not very infrequent calls (invariably Pankaj calling us one-on-one). We used to discuss potential trouble points as well as good work happening, that others may have missed etc.

Now, as I have posted, I am outta my home net connection, and running not so 'vella' at work, hence the niceties went outta the window at the first hint of heat! Rohit is doing great currently, and we others hope to claw back the goodwill we are slowly losing.

This option is already available. You need to click on the yellow triangle with "!" mark and it allows you to report it to administrators(moderators). I have used it effectively lot many times.

Personally, if I see action not being taken, I drop a mail to moderators along with PM with the concerned link.

I never noticed that exclamation mark! May be we should better highlight it

Yes Himanshu, even I agree that looking at the little triangle with the exclamation mark does not immediately convey that its there to report the post. Banwari, et al - can we change that and put a button which clearly says "Report this post"? This way it will be easier for user to locate and report posts. This button may be fashioned to look exatly like the quote & edit buttons.
