Hello Sundar,

For Magarpatta, there is a tyre shop just outside the South gate. The shop is called National Tyres. It is on the same side as the south gate and charges 50 bucks for a puntureless repair. The shop is a good one, as he sells tyres and does not care much about making money from puntures. The only problem is that to drive to the garage would be a tough task due to the steep slope and heavy trafic on that road.

On Mundwa, there is one shop just at the Mundwa chowk, the junction to Keshav Nagar. That guy is okay, have been there just once and did not get cheated.

I have seen that filling air from petril pumps is safe, however, as advised, you may get off your car to have a look for any mischief.

I would suggest that you buy one of those China made air filling pumps. It helps a lot and it is fun to maintain your car!

it happens in mumbai as well. i was a victim yesterday. i was going from mira road to malad in my opel corsa. when i reached tata power flyover in borivli hightway i saw a wooden plate with nails standing up on it. i saved my car from it. going further for few minutes when i reached seasons bar the tyre burst. the tube and tyre tore. luckily nothing happened to us. the moment my car stopped a boy came runing and said that the tyre is puncture and he can fix it for 40 rs. i agreed. i asked him to put my stepheny. he took that for checking in his shop. i went along. he found 4 punctures and said it cant be fixed and the tube has to be replaced. also he showed 3 holes on the tyre. total expense 620/- i had no choice. so paid the money. police should do something about these tyre walas. in order to make easy money they damage our vehicle and even risk our lifes.

krpune,

Thanks for the information. I had too some experince in that area mostly on the road from kalyaninagr to Mundhawa. There is one puncture shop on right at junction while coming from kalyani nagar and left turn to mundhawa. and another shop after you take left turn and go towards Mundhwa which is opposite to Bharat Petrol pump. I had bad experience from both the shops. At first shop I did some patching to tubeless tyre and from another shop just asked patching rates. Both have Rs. 80/- per puncture and Rs. 480/- for patching inside tubeless tyre. Really expensive. Also, I enquired valve price at both shop and it is Rs. 380/-

A very informative thread, now planning to be-friend a puncturewallah and also be cautious while checking air pressure in petrol pumps. ( usually i remain in the car while filling petrol or checking air, think i need to get out and stand near the bunk guys to see no mischief is made)

O.T It really sinks me, how people take car owners for a ride whenever there's an opportunity, right from the gay walkers on the road and other small and big vehicles try to bully us for the only reason we are travelling in our own hard earned money car.

I and another resident in my area went to the local police station to file a complaint. Even after filing a case, there is nothing that stops these tapri punturewalas from damaging tyres. Every day when I leave for office and return from office, I see innocent car owners getting trapped. What can be done? This is a major issue right from Kalyani Nagar all the way to Magarpatta City.

Driving on tyres that have a side damage is dangerous.

Hi Krpune , and everyone else ,

thank you for providing this valuable information . Just after my last post i encountered 6 punctures on my bike tyre , and had no option but to get them repaired from a "shed " opposite magarpatta.

Cost 600 RS after bargaining

My bike tyre ( only 2 months old )  has lots of cuts / slashes and the puncture wala says is because i drove on a punctured tyre . anyone else have the same explanation ?

I did some reserach on the net , a tubeless tyre should not have its side wall punctures so easily .

Side wall puncture suggests a mischief !

I will check out national tyres , any inconvinience is better than  this puncture wala menace .

will keep updating as per my experiences ,

regards

Hello Sundar,

In all cases, we have been victims. Out tyres would have never had any issues before visiting these tapri rascals. It is only after we visit them do the tyres get damaged.

So whether it is 4 nails at a single place or side tyre damage, it is all the cheap trick of these punture cheats.

Take care.
