Dear Dr.Vikas and all,

Sorry for this delay in my updating on this thread. Had a drive to Mahabalipuram which was my first long drive and ...wow. I really enjoyed the drive. I am yet to check my mileage as have just filled the first diesel refill. Will update on this.

The audio provided by Skoda is  good. Rear speakers are absent which we need to fit on our own. I have only purchased sun films and mats. I am thinking of buying seat covers since the beige interiors will get dirty fast. I had checked up with an accessories dealer and the rates for synthetic covers is around Rs.5500 and the cotton costs Rs.7000. He says cotton covers never gets heated up. Any suggestions? Someone was also suggesting steering cover, especially during summer.

Dr.Vikas - I have tried your suggestions and they are working well ..thanks ! The car has not stopped since.

Good to see lot of new buyers. Congrats and Welcome to the group !

Hi all,

1) Music System: I was originally quoted Rs 12,700/- by the dealer. However when I found out in the market and Sony's website the cost was Rs 10,990/- including the bill and warranty. Finally got it for Rs 11,000/- including the fitting.

2) Rear Speakers: I went for Sony round speakers since I needed to fit them in th rear doors. Paid Rs 1990/- .. which is the market price with fitting, bill and warranty.

3) New RTO approved embossed number plates - The original price they were asking for was           Rs 2400/- paid them around Rs 1800/-.

4) Rear parking sensors - Fitted the RD branded rear parking sensors with a rear view mirror display. I was originally quoted Rs 5900 to begin with,  I paid them Rs 4800. These were available for Rs 3700 in the market, but the dealer needed to adjust some discount against accessories so I had to buy it from them.

5) Sun control film - I opted for the standard Garware film that costed me Rs 1000. The dealer will try and up sell 3M or other expensive specialist films. My suggestion is that if you need to go for a high end sun control film go to the specialist directly. Also try and get a good quality anti- glare sun control film for your front windscreen. Not only will it help the cooling in the car but also helps in night driving conditions. I plan to get my front windscreen fitted with a good film soon.

6) If you are going in for finance please ensure that you take atleast 3 written quotes from different banks. All of them negotiate. The dealer will persuade you to go ahead with a bank that they have a tie up with. Every dealer has a small margin built in the loan.. if you insist they discount it for you. I manage dto get a good deal from Tata Capital only after I compared their quote to HDFC and Axis banks quote.

7) Also if you are opting for the 3rd & 4th year warranty then you are forced to insure your car through Bajaj Allianz. The total premium charged to me was Rs 32,800.

I took a quote from Bajaj Allianz directly and they were quoting approx Rs 18,000 as the premium. So Skoda is actually charging approx 12,000 - 14,000 as the premium for the 3rd and 4th year warranty... but you if you don't take it through the dealer then you don't have the option to take the extended warranty

8) Besides this Skoda charges Rs 6000 for standard accessories which includes Teflon coating, floor mats, side mirror protective strips and mud flaps. I think it was a mistake to opt for this cause the mats, mud flaps and mirror protectors of the best quality will not cost you more than Rs 2000.  I You will be able to get much better quality Teflon coating for the same price from a specialist outside.

The only accessory pending on my list is remote locking - which I intend to install within a month or so. This is also a lot more expensive with the dealer. So take your time to go through all the items on your final quote - cross verify them and then take a call. All the best.

@ Kunaal,

Such detailed write ups are helpful in many ways.. New buyers can avail the info & decide accordingly, even the company/ dealers can plan their strategies according to the feedback/ views of the customers in such forums. Only thing they need is to follow.... I know one SE doing advocacy for Polo in one of such threads! It's rightfully appreciable, of course!

I want to know something about the Bluetooth functioning in the car audio. Does it work significantly & clearly without interruptions? Shailinder had also raised a query regarding music system, that went unattended. Do write about it......

Regards

Kunaal,

Thanks a lot for your thread. As Dr. vikas said it would be a great help for new car buyers like me

Keep update about your experience

Dr. Vikas

Kindly suggest me does the diesel engine still (like old model) produce`more noise?

Also how do you compare 1.2 ambient MPI and 1.2 ambient CRDi in aspects of FE,  VFM for driving less than 10000 kms/year

@ Dr.Raja,

For an average running of 10000 kms, as I already have mentioned earlier, you are going to save approximately Rs.15000/- with CRDi annually, in comparison with the MPI. Likewise, more the running, your saving will be ultimately on higher side!!

And about  the noise factor, it's been rectified significantly in the new version. I'd test driven both. Plz do refer to the earlier posts in this same thread.

I am using a diesel car for the first time, but not at all facing any 'drawback' as compared to the petrol ones. Fabia has got a great pick up & acceleration, it's high torque can be experienced significantly...

Regards,

Dr. Vikas,

Thanks for your reply.

Am pretty sure that my driving won't reach beyond 10000kms/year. In this aspect i feel that choosing 1.2ambiente MPi would be better choice by saving about app.1.25 lakhs(price diff.bween diesel and petrol ambient).

Any suggestions

That's true!

Before installing security system, do contact to the dealer & make sure the warranty of your car doesn't get void .......

Suresh,

You may get the synthetic covers for your car in the range say Rs.3000 onwards, they are easy to clean & probably don't fade... while with cotton ones, you will have to face both the problems..

As Fabia has got a bulky steering, it'll need a thin leather/ synthetic cover to be put on .. one that is available with the dealer is much costly & better you get it from the local market ....

Keep writing

Hi all,

As discussed the Bluetooth enabled receiver I have installed in my Fabia is the Sony Xplod MEX- BT3850U.

My work makes me travel a lot and I really do feel the need of a speaker phone device in my car to answer calls safely while driving. It can also stream music from my phone or any other bluetooth enables device and play it through the system.

Both the call clarity as well as the music streaming is very clear without any disturbances. Pairing your phone to the receiver is also a very simple procedure. Once paired all you need to do is switch on the bluebooth mode of your phone and switch on the receiver. The moment you receive a call any music playing pauses and you can answer your call by a simple one touch button operation.

The microphone is conveniently located behind the faceplate on the receiver and is powerful enough to let the person sitting in the rear seat also use it. I am still to explore all the features of the receiver but here is a website link for your reference
