Yes alto should be able to do it without any problem . I did it many times with my M800 5speed which has the same engine as Alto. The car remains absolutely stable.

By the way I have 165/60 R12 with Alloys on it.

Here is a video for reference ;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=et_rnlokMNc

Hey guys OT but dont do such speeds with Alto guys, 120-130is fine but anything more than that will hurt your car, risk your life. Please drive safe.

Coming to the thread, big engine(1.1L) in a small car can do wonders. But coming to the 0.8L engine, it has to be revved, mostly floored to reach the claimed 137Km/Hr speed. The engine may be hovering at around 6K RPM or even more considering there is no limiter. If there is one then its most probably 5K RPM because that is the usual RPM lock for 5th gear.

Just my two cents

I guess the RPM would be much lower at that speed. I have seen RPM remaining at 4000 when speed is 165kmph on my esteem.

Buts yes driving at 140 continuously on a long stretch might not be too healthy (though modern engines are quite smart and reliable). But no harm in cruising with full throttle on 5th gear.

Yes for your esteem, the final drive gear is much higher than that of the alto due to the higher torque of the esteem. Hecnce, the engine speede remains at 4k RPM.

As the alto(0.8) has an engine of lesser torque, hence the gearing is short. Hence the engine speed will be greater when compared to the esteem at the same vehicle speed. So what could be an easy task for the esteem, is not so easy for the alto or any small car in general.

I feel you get my point..
