I take both, your statement & subsequent regret for harshness. Do not expect me to not be pointed. I cannot sugar-coat, nor do I work for any newspaper that I have concern about someone's ad revenue. People not willing to read my opinions have the right to avoid them.

Dear Kshitij,

Trust, nobody here is paid by any manufacturer. What mileage figures are they are mentioning must be right. I understand that you are driving your car for seven months and haven't able to achieve a mileage figure better than 14 in city. But please consider the term *city* here. South Bombay is much different a city than New Bombay. And New Bombay is much different than Bhopal. So a person says that "I get 17 kmpl in Bhopal" might be right as the traffic conditions are not that severe in Bhopal. It is as good as Bombay's highways. I might manage 15 in New Bombay while you can't even think of going beyond 14 in your city, Bombay. But all of us are right, firm with our mileage figures and all of us think that this is the best one can get in city!

When one contributes in any forum, he is helping many directly or indirectly. We should be thankful to the people who find time for us and write here. We all are friends here, please act that way. Though Pankaj didn't say anything wrong, but even if he did, he apologized. Please finish things right here. Forgiveness is a big thing.

Kotak, I posted my subsequent regret only to help you apologize for the immodest language/expression used by you. I don't disagree or doubt your experience on mileage nor did I say so - I registered my reservation on your expression "being paid".  Like you, we too are not concerned about ad-revenue or work for any newspaper or the like.  We are all (including you) like-minded people with passion for cars.  We are here to share our views & information and in the process are enriching/enhancing the same.   There's nothing wrong in being pointed - I appreciate, but it should be with modesty.   We should make it a point to be humble in our language/ expression, and it doen't mean sugar-coating.  Anyway, I request you not to nurture any misunderstanding on the issue - take it sportingly. Cheers, dear.

Hi All First of all, it gives me immense pleasure to see so much action out here. Secondly, I have no reason to forgive Pankaj, for he has committed no crime. I, in fact, welcome his association. Finally, we are enjoying our activity. I have never said anything against anyone. I do not believe I have insulted anyone. Someone can actually drive a car in muted conditions and get even more mileage. City driving in south mumbai is also explained by me as a stop-n-go traffic. Anyone getting better mileage has to choose between 3 reasons, that too, in my opinion. If you do not agree... fine with me. In democracy, we all must agree to disagree... Cheerz... Thanks Mr.Sharma and Mr.Pankaj... Regards Kshitiz

i own a Swift VDi and it gives me around 14-16 in City with 85% AC on and depending on the trafiic. and it gives around 20 in the highway with 40% AC on.

Like I have said earlier (post #33) and explained by Banwari (post #42), mileage differs from city to city due to driving/traffic conditions and driving style.  However, it should be measured correctly (kms run between two tank fulls).
