Leaving for Goa tomm Smile. I decided to open hood & check Oil levels .To my surprise It was at 1/4 mark Innocent. I was always under the impression that After 15000kms Car might not drink much of an oil. This made me visit the VW West service station. They said I will certainly need a top up of appx 500ml to 600ml. Last I had changed oil was at 9600 kms & now its 16500kms on odo.

Bought 1 ltr & topped up with appx 600ml. Kept balance oil with me.

Also asked them to Topup Air in my spare tyre which is certainly a BIG PAIN for VW cars. You have to almost remove tyre out JUST to fill the Air.

They decided to charge me Rs.70 as service charge, which was big Put off just to top up Engine Oil. I found this stupid on their part even to ask me this money. I could have rather done it my self. Wel  after some protest were waived.

PUC: done, Originl docs Taken, Diesel filled up to the Brim, Air pressure checked, Engine oil toppedup, So GOA here I come Tongue out........

I toppedup 600ml after 7K kms , this is same as I had done after my first 7500 kms had filled 750ml.. In my case I need a top up after appx 7k kms Yell. So again how can we say service interval @15K kms. I am sorry but its certainly a wrong notion in case of VW Vento in my case.

Ben long since have updated this thred.

Car is Running quite well. Completed 18600kms till now Cool. It has been trouble free ownership till now and quite happy with overall performance of my car.

I got an avg of 18.75 km/ltr during my Goa trip which is quite impressive.

My Pirelli P7 205/55/15 performed quite well , especially on TAR surface. I am over all quite happy with their performace till now. Though they have started to throw some noise inside cabin but nothing much to complain about.

Here is a link Mumbai - Goa Via Pune Expressway/Kolhapur Road condition (Page 1 2)

Cheers

Master - Any tyre advise for me ?. Time to change the  appolo stock , I am nearing 25000 ,may stay for another 2-3 K max. How's your Pirelli P7 205/55/15 doing , how many km's so far ?, any issues with ground clearance .

I was speaking to one of my friends and he warned me about the dangers of wrong upgrade. His main concern was wider tyres throwing dirt to the body and damaging paint. I don't have a mud guards on my vento so want to be extra careful.

My requirements are comfort and 35K mileage. I do spin sometimes but my appolos could handle it so I am sure others will manage it better.

@apnp: have completed 22K kms & Pirelli are doing fantastic. But are you sure your Appolo hv reached their age at 30K kms?? I believed that they shoudl stay fit till 45K kms atleast.

Reg 205/55/15: there is no much choice available. Even Pirelli has got them out of their price list. Only other options you will get is CPC2 Conti & Yoko S drive. CPC2 have not beein getting good reviews so I suggest you to stay away. Yoko S drive will be noisey & will loose life much faster then any other mentioned above.

I personally now plan to go for 195/60/15 , since there are many options available. You will get Michelin, Yoko C drive, MRF zylo( recomended VFM) & many other. You can choose from either of these brands. For comfort i would recomned Michelin or MRF Zylo.

Master- Thanks , I dont know , I hava a feeling it may last for 10K more but my tyre dealer says it will be over in another 3K, I will wait and see.

I enquired about 195/60/15 yoko C drive last week , looks like its out of production due to some issues so very few tyres are available. Heard Michelin is expensive and also sidewalls are soft so will go and check it out . Will also look at MRF Zylo , will keep you posted if I narrow down on any.
