Saps Ggg,

Alto is a nice car at that price with good mileage. Make the most of it.

yeah, if your run is 1200 kms +, go with diesel !!

Govt should open more CNG & LPG outlets. most of the outlets are always flooded with autos, taxis & buses !!

trinaonline - the choices you face are difficult indeed. If there is a room for a new diesel car, you would be better off with a new car and selling the alto would not be much of a problem.

The foreclosure fees will be offset by the higher price the car will fetch when compared to 1.5 years later.

One factor was not taken into account in your arguments was that the car use increases sometimes because of sheer laziness. We tend to take out the car where there is no need just because it is available. When it pinches (at the filling station) then the realization dawns that it is getting expensive. But the fact is we exploit the car for the benefits it offers, sometimes more than what is legitimate ;-) There goes your initial estimate!

I agree completely with you Krishna regarding the 'laziness' point.

Initially i used to take my car for even the half-1 km errands...have stopped that. Its a very bad habbit and destroys our walking culture.

More than the car owners, its the bike owners who always use the bike even for short errands. I agree absolutely. Use the car only if necessary, walk if possible.

Thanks to de-regulation, in Mumbai price of Petrol is gonna increase by 60 paise. Diesel price is still controlled and will remain at 42 for some more time. I think thats one more reason to rejoice for Diesel owners. Car-makers like Tata have already started to use this point in their adverts!

Iam agree with Krishna.  It depends on person.  When i was planning for buying a new car, my estimated monthly running was 600-700 KM and i went for a petrol car.  But now my average monthly milage is around 500 only!!!

if we go for diesel then we will use the car more frequently and, obviously, the cost on fuel will increase.  right?
