I opened up a new thread where after reading through the post I decided to reply and started scrolling as usual looking for subsequent posts to know if somebody had already written what I was about to write.

As I reached the bottom, I came across the last two posts by a new member(his first two posts ever) which are visibly an attempt to spam the CarWale forum. In irritation, i decided to leave the topic.

I reported the links to the MODS as spam and went to Chandigarh for some work. Just now I returned back and checked out the thread again.

Spamming like this is so irritating and spoils the fun of interacting on the forum.

I request MODS to kindly delete these posts asap and don't allow these "deliberate spammers" any further space to repeat the same.

I fully agree with you. Nasty people join this professional forum, which is informative, fun and to-the-point, and start dumping their garbage (they don't have anything else to offer).

I too had noticed such an incident (with other user) and wrote a personal message to the moderators (Pankaj, Krishna and Banwari). They very quickly acted on it and deleted all those posts. They also told me that the user would be banned if this continues. After that, there are no further posts from that user.

This is a risk any online forum has to live with. There can be people who will keep spamming with new accounts every now and then. That is why many forums nowadays have a screening mechanism when a new user registers - the registration is first scrutinised by the site's admin/moderator and only then is access granted.

This is gross violation of trust of the other forum members. I think first 25-50 posts of all new joinees should be moderated. If required, I am ready to volunteer for this.

I just saw the thread such an idiot who posted those songs and third class comment. Sorry is using bad language, but i got irritated when i saw that thread. The person who genuinely posted the query was not treated properly.

Really Moderation can be done. +1 for live2drive for the post.

We can devise a mechanism where in members can mark the the post as spam and can then be removed by modertors or system itself.

Cheers,

Vaibhav.

This option is already present. Cannot be marked as spam, but can be 'marked' for moderator review

It tends to be irritating but its upto us to ignore it and move forward. I am sure the mods of this forum are doing enough to keep it as clean as possible but sometimes this does happen. The mods here are also people having their daily jobs but still are doing what they can do best.  Also at present only 2 mods are available (Banwari and Krishna) and its a huge responsibility and a mammoth task to check each and every post.. We can help them by reporting such posts. Nevertheless the mods are still doing a great job.
