I did a recent research on Scorpio as my brother in law wanted to buy one. Of course, he has bought the Vlx variant as there are lot of features in it.
Coming to your question of Lx or Sle - I would suggest Sle is good VFM considering the option of ABS. A huge monster like Scorpio definitely requires ABS for effective braking. So, no doubt - go for Sle if you have the budget. Lx is just a compromise.
Secondly, Vlx is a nicely bundled package with features like Micro Hybrid technology, ABS, rain sensor, audio system with speakers, cruise control etc. I did 1200 KM in a day in Vlx. I used Cruise control too. It is a very good option to have in ur SUV especially if you are making frequent road trips. The roads (NH) in India are improving and cruise control is a good option for long drive. I can't stop talking about micro hybrid technology as it helps in improving FE within city limits. It is awesome to feel the monster switching off and switching on (with a touch of toe on clutch pedal) automatically.
If you want to feel Vlx variant's feature, just go and test drive the vehicle. I am sure you guys would fall in love.
