TOYOTA FORTUNER

This is going to be one of the best SUV in this segment. I was anticipating to see its entry into Indian market in 2008. Like someone commented earlier, you cannot compare Fortuner with Land Cruiser. That person was correct about it however, you can compare it with safari to Pajero.  

We Indians are not performance oriented people. We look more into safety, mileage and other specifications. Considering the weight, engine specifications and safety features, I would say this is one of the best SUV we are going to blessed with. This vehicle weighs much less than any SUV that we currently have in India. It means this vehicle will give a decent mileage. Fortuner can also perform as good as one of those SUVs we fancy about. It also comes with safety features like ABS, EBD, Traction control, etc which we generally see in vehicles that cost more than 20 lakhs.

If this vehicle have to compete with other leading Indian SUVs, it’s pricing will have to be ideal. I think 17 lakhs would be ideal for this vehicle.

Almost all of us Indians are not going to be interested in off-roading or taking our vehicles through some dirt ridden road unless we have a reason other than “fun”.

Indian SUV fans have got tired of asking, "When is the Fortuner coming?" The answer is - October. We can also reveal that the Fortuner will come in two variants. The engine will be the 3.0 litre diesel with 161 bhp and 4-wheel drive. The automatic version will follow in later with all-wheel drive. The Fortuner will be priced between Rs 16-18 lakhs. That should make the Indian SUV junta smile.

How sure are you about it being released in Oct. I've tried talking to some Toyota Managers and they were very reluctant to provide this info. I am very curious because I've seen every other person coming up with a different releasing date.

Are you aware of how soon the automatic version would be out in the market. Is it 6A or 5A.

finally, we have something to be happy about. I have official confirmation from a high level manager from Toyota Kirloskar that this vehicle will be lauching in Oct -November. After so many dates by different agencies and people, finally I have something to be happy about.

This will be assembled in Bidadi in Karnataka. They refused to comment about the pricing. The only other promise was its interior is going to be much better than what you might have generally seen in Fortuners in other countries.

I had spoken to a senior Toyota manager and he said it will be out in oct, 09 for sure.

hi just wanted to know what will be the exact price of toyota fortuner so i was planning to buy within 4 monts or so. 

It is gonna be somewhere between 18 o 21...

I am waiting for Toyota Fortuner to hit Indian roads for past two years and postponing my purchase plans year after year .

Its a good news that it is being launched this year ( Hopefully )

I only wish that I should get the delivery of my Fortuner by 5th November , 2009 , a special day for me .
