LPG will be cheaper than Petrol but not as much as it used to be earlier due to hike in LPG price.  So if you do not have substantial amount of run/usage  (like it appears from the 0K kms done in 15 months by you), you may not consider to go for retrofittment.

Regarding effect on engine, it is none but it slightly affects the performance/pick-up.

Like I have just said elsewhere too... to my understanding (may or may not be true), engine performance on CNG reduces by 20 to 25% & in LPG 10 to 15%.  But it all depends upon the Kit & retrofittment quality (workmanship).

Like i hv said earlier...........i can say with conviction based on experience of having used different cars on lpg over th last 5 yrs ...........................that ...

if an original branded italian lpg kit is fit and maintained by an lpg professional ..... it is virtualy impossible to distinguish between th performance on lpg and petrol ........ even after 2 yrs of fitting

But I feel, as maintenance by LPG professional is generally not possible (in all cases), this (loss of performance) may stand true by & large.

u r right ................. but surely a default situation cannot b allowed to become th rule ........ coz th moment v state there is definitely a loss of performance ................ it wud sound like in cng .... where performance comparable to petrol is just not possible .................. whereas in lpg ... th performance is supposed to b th same .... but bcoz of poor choice of fitter by th car owner .............. th car's performance suffers

In CNG there is a substantially loss - I understand it is around 20 to 25%.  Therefore, not withstanding the comparison with LPG, CNG is definitely not advisable in smaller cars.
