I guess this is not a very common problem but I have experienced this before. Some threads cannot be viewed properly - I am guessing that this is an Internet Explorer specific issue, as we can see that these threads have been replied to. For example, this thread: http://www.carwale.com/Forums/ViewThread-18281.html - here the first post shows something like <!--endif--> and then there's nothing below it. Please look into this.

S = k.I^2, where S is the amount of stupidity a species possesses, I is the intelligence the species has and k is the universal constant of stupidity.

Dear Rohit,

This thing typically happens when the poster uses Microsoft Word as word editor/processor. This data is copied from Word and then directly pasted here. Word has some hidden formatting codes for Font, colour and style etc which are also copied. IE understands those codes and these codes sometimes clash with IE and hence this disappearance of the content. Firefox and other browsers just discard those codes.

Let me check if something can be done for this.

Why not have a filter that removes invalid/non-standard HTML tags or markup before putting the post content into the database?

The content can be trimmed. However, the process hogs resource from the server.
