Hi Ganhen,

I am using Beat LS since March 10. My friend purchased A-Star (ZXI) six months before me and in those six months I had always been in co-passenger seat with him. Initially I was planning to buy A-Star, but when Beat was launched and I had a test drive, I changed my mind towards Beat (the look had also played a key role). The interior, ride quality, handling and overall finish in both Beat & A-Star is at par. There are areas where A-Star lacks - rear leg-room, boot space (125 ltr in A-Star & 175 ltr in Beat), height, A-Star is 1000 cc whereas Beat is 1200 cc, A-Star is 3 cylinder, Beat is 4 cylinder. Estilo is nowhere in the contest because of its fit and finish and size.  Again in A-Star you have the option of ABS, Airbag & AT. But overall Beat is a VFM Car.  Finally you should take a TD of both the cars and decide.

BTW - it may sound bias since I own Beat.

-Hira

If you need funky looks then go for the beat. If you need reliability backed by good A.S.S and better resale value, then A-Star is the way to go. Estilo is also good but not doing well of late.

Hi,

this is the excat same problem i am facing in the my Beat.

I bought the car 6 months ago i drove almost 13k km

Still the average is less about 10 in the city and 12 in the highway and there is no pick up in the second gear.

The Frontline motors the chevorelet delears in mangalore are so irresponsible.

They dont even try to rectify the problem

ok i'll agree to the milage part, an hope that it 'll improve , but the mileage of 8 without AC is stall a concern.

The pickup of the car was so poor that at times on moderate slopes i had to shift to first gear for over taking other vehicle, the second gear would go non responsive while pressing the accelerator on a slopy road even in city, the problem got rectified to certain after the chev service center updated the software of car. And the same prob has been reported by most of beat owners in our city. There fore this is inherent problem in beat.

i already own two cars, and has never seen or heard of this kid of problem in any other vehicle

Hi, I do not know about Chevrolet but I own TATA Indica Vista QJ. I had same problem of pickup. There was no responce at slopes of accelerator even at 1st gear. TATA motors have replaced cylinder head and done changes in there ECU programining. Since then have no problem in driving at gradients with AC on..

Swaroop, I heard that there was an engine remap and ECU flash being done to beat sometime back. Was this done to your car or did you enquire about that? The flash was done to solve the pick up problem. Do enquire about this

Yea, one of my frineds who is using chevy Beat also informed me about the problem of no response in 2ng gear. The milage will defenitly improve after service, however the 8 is still a concern and you never expect to get 18 as the company says. My friend he is getting around 13-14.

I own a Beat for last 10 months and have done almost 8000 Kms and till now have not found any issues. Getting FE of 14 KPL. As far as Pick up is concern, I never faced this issue (except once when I was climbing a slope with 6 adults inside the car with AC on).

I also own a wagon R and believe me pick up and power is far more than it. I never felt like driving Wagon R with AC on due to poor pick with AC on, but with BEAT, I never drive without AC on. Anyways, in Mumbai, you cannot even think of driving car without AC.
