Sorry to put up the question here, but I couldnt start a new thread:

Where to buy the insurance from ? Dealer or from outside ?

1. Dealer insurance quote is Rs. 4000 higher for I20 Asta, and since the car doesnt carry any discount whatsoever this seems to be the only place where I can save money. Please advice

regards,

tj

Tushar, Click on Forums from the top menu, then go to individual forum you are interested in creating a thread, and then go to the bottom of the page where you have a button for creating a new thread. That should not be all that difficult.

I created this thread for you, to separate it from the earlier thread, so it is addressed separately. You can do it yourself for the next thread onwards.

Certainly there is no harm going for outside insurance agency. I belive Reliance already offering 40% discount on new car.

Dealer normally attach insurance benefit to free car accessories or Teflon etc etc.. If you go outside u might be deprived of these freebies.

Also, I want to know whether it makes any difference in claims etc if you go for insurance from outside, one friend from insurance company was telling me, incase something comes up dealer will take care of it in dealing with the insurance people, otherwise you have to run around for all that ?

Is it true in any sense ?

No not at all . I will be more then happy if your dealer is good enough to take care of your car/Service which he is ment to doSurprised. Most of the case their job is just to sell the car.

Car dealers have good relation with all the insurance company , hence in case of accident or repair Job where they make good amount of money will handle any insurance comapny on your behalf if you go back to them for repaires. Otherwise any other garage also should be able to take care of the issue.

Satish - Also the IDV gets changed for insurance company to company. How is that calculated?

For example, i had a quote for renewal from Royal Sundaram (Maruti Insurance) which says depreciation is 20% and have given reduced IDV. Same when i enquired in Tata AIG, HDFC etc, the IDV reduction is less than 20%, but premium is almost same for both.

Royal Sundaram told for 1yr depreciation, the IDV will be 2,19,000/- for my Alto
Others say, that IDV will be 2,35,000/- with premium almost same for both with a difference of few hundred rupees.

My initial IDV was around 2,60,000/-

Please help which one to choose.

I just got a call from TATA-AIG. He quoted me 17422 for Ex showroom price of 602000. But this premium has add on value for 100% insurance for all the things including rubber, plastic, glass etc. and normal insurance for Rs.15500 which has 50% insurance for the above things.

Seemed ok to me given that the dealer is charging more than 17.5k for the normal insurance ?

Any advices ?

Hi,

I also took TATA-AIG , from outside for my new BEAT and looks best with 8 addons available.

It covers all parts 100% without any Depreciation including airbag, it's great.. It has many other add on, like Daily Allowance, Emergency Transport and Hotel , Emergency Transport and Hotel Expenses

Thanks,

Satish
