1) Click on Buy a Car tab.

2) Under "Select  your new car option" select By Make-Model radio button.

3) Select Hyundai Accent in the dropdown list below.

4) Click on Find new cars button.

5) System displays the specification of Accent.

6) You would find a link Check on-road price. Click on that.

7) Car details are already populated as per my selection. Hence I do not have to worry about.

8) However Nothing is populated in City dropdown list which is mandatory for the search.

Work around: Change the Car model from Accent to i10. Now change it back to Accent. City gets populated now.

Dear Mr. Banwari,

I guess you may want to appoint me as an official tester. Laughing

City does not get populated no matter which car I chose. Tried with TATA, Chevy, I10 but the city never gets loaded at all. Is this a bug in the first place? I guess it is not

I have given an example how to replicate the defect and it is not mandatory to choose Hyundai.

And I still think it is indeed a defect. Because as an end user I have got all my car details populated and obviously I would expect the city details are populated as well (I am not talking about the city to be automatically selected, which can also be done based on which city I am from, but that is enhancement). But system is displyaing only "Select the city" option and no city is available in the dropdown to select. Which is indeed a defect.

Technically speaking, I guess the city drop down logic is written on the item_changed event handler of the Car model dropdown. However the same method must be called on the page load also.

Hope I am clear. Please let me know your thoughts.

I did get the city list for all the cars that I tried. Did not face any problem there. I thought you were saying that the city should also get populated without you having to select it. For now I get the city list. I just need to select which city I need. I asked if its a bug because I was able to see the cities. I did not mean to be offensive there if you felt so.

Dear Sridhar,

 No offense taken.

But I am still able to replicate the error and I call it as defect. I am not sure how you have tried to replicate it. Have you tried the steps I have given above?

Every single step. But I see the entire city list. I have tried the same in 5 different browsers (Safari, Chrome, IE, Opera and Firefox), tried using different cars and even tried the same while having logged into carwale and without it - complete testing but still I get the entire city list populated in all the cases Laughing

This is really interesting. I am still able to replicate the issue. Let me see if I can take the screenshot and attach.

Visited your profile and then your album to see it. Its the same page I am speaking about. I guess it is a bug now as you are not getting any city at all but I see all of them in any condition.
