Hi,

I have a complicated problem regarding my Bike. i had brought one second hand Honda Bike worth 25000 on the month of november 2007. i brought it from through one of my friends from a person who was an NRI. he was in abroad that time  and he has instructed his friend to sell his Bike with all the orginal documents including blank sale deed with his signatures.

I have a valid Kerala Licence. I brought that Bike, owner's friend handover me the R.C, Sale Deed ( blank with owners singnature), orginal Bank Letter showing loan is over and also the insurance bond.

I lost my Orginal R.C with in one week, while i was undergoing a couple of usual traffic inspection and i came to know about it after some days only when i decide to transfer it to my name. it was my earlier days in bangalore as well as in my carrier so i was not able to concentrate and solve that problem at that perioid. moreover afterwards i have never faced the problem of asking R.C.( i dont have any photo copy of the same) i have paid last 2 years insurance on date and i keep on updating the pollution certificate.

now i am planning to shift to my home town which is in kerala and facing the problem of R.C. i understand that legally i have no connection with my Bike and my friends warned me that it will be considered as a stolen Bike.

I dont have any contact with the R.C Owner of my Bike neither his friend.

Please suggest me a solution, if any.

Thanks & regards

Sreejith

In today's age, I don't believe it is not possible to locate the person. However, in today's age, I don't see anyone signing blank papers and giving you the bunch for you to do anything!

Either live with the situation, or get an agent to effect the transfer. Just tell him you don't want to know how he gets it done. If it is not possible that way, option 1! Laughing

PS: I realize my answer could be interpreted in many ways, some even undesirable.

First get the original duplicate RC. (a separate sub-project).Then apply for change of transfer of ownership based on the RC.

Try your best to locate the original owner, and get these docs signed by him. Otherwise let the agent see how this can be further pursued.

Sreejith , how were you able to renew the insurance without giving a copy of the RC? Also the insurance company should be having the address of the owner. You can go there and search.

Also you can speak in the RTO office where this bike was registered and you can get a duplicate copy. Or even the bank which gave the loan for this bike

Aravindh, no one asks for RC when continuing a policy.

Aravindh, it must be causing you some serious inconvenience losing your important documents. You need to take some precautionary steps so as to avoid such problems. Paper documents are very much likely to get damaged sooner or later. One can never be too careful. Keeping this in mind, we, a company by the name of kleeto, have started a one of a kind service in India.

We collect from your place all the important documents and keep them safe from every possible harm (theft, termites, moisture etc). We digitize your documents and give you your password to view them online.

And whenever you need your documents back, we deliver them to you at your doorstep.

So save yourself the unnecessary discomfort by trying kleeto.

Good luck.
