Hello Mods,

On many occasions I have come across threads which do not have any replies from the members. Some of the threads and last moment threads which people require to be answered in a day. One such thread is this one. Is there anyway to stop this from happening like a notification every 4 hours or something so that no thread goes unnoticed? It would be disappointing for people expecting some help from our forums and later going empty handed without any inputs. If there is some workaround maybe we can help avoid this situation.

In the example given, the title of the thread is vague and does not reflect the thread creator's requirement.  What he requires is a clarification on registration - a person who is browsing the forum cannot make this out from the thread title.  Again, the OP wanted an immediate response - the urgency is not clear from the title and besides these are not issues that you think of and request help on a day before the deed.  IMHO the OP had enough time to arrange his loan and stuff like that - you dont log on to a forum on the day before the deed and post a thread titled "Buying new car" and expect everyone to jump in and help in time.

While it would be good to have replies to all queries, it is also the responsibility of the person posting to ensure that his requirement is communicated properly.  This is a user forum - the people responding are those with day jobs and responsibilities.

I think that most of the people here do indeed take time off their daily responsibilities to provide suitable inputs where possible.  The equation is therefore very clear - if you post your requirement in a manner that clearly communicates what you want, you will get a proper response.

There are many such threads which come out to be vague and without ample information but the forums members either get it to the right section of the forum or try and get more information for the individuals needs. Not giving a response is not justifiable in anyway. The reason why it could have been posted a day before the actual day could have been that the individual came to know about carwale only on that day or maybe someone whom he asked his query directed him to carwale only on this particular day. There could be numerous reasons for the same. My point here is not about the validity or the vagueness of the thread but the fact that the threads should get some response. if you surf the various sections you would find numerous other valid threads where there are no responses. If these threads are deliberately not being replied to, then I apologize to have created this thread.

Centaur, my general observation is that generally RTO & legal matter related threads go unnoticed very often. I wonder that the members here are not very well versed with this subject and hence no help to the people with these queries.

Not only the RTO ones Amit. I was just browsing the forums and I came across another thread on buying a spark or a santro and the thread was created on 29th May which did not receive any responses.

Well there is a new tab on forum home page named "unanswered threads"... we all should put a consious effort to check those out too.

+ to Amit. Also owner can continue updating his thread by asking for feedback. Unlike in above example by Centaur, that thread owner didn't turned back after his first post.

That is true Amit but since we do not tend to actually check the unanswered threads I was just wondering if there could be some kind of notification for unanswered threads like a section of unanswered threads which would get updated with new unanswered threads every 4 hours or something and once answered would get removed from that section. Not sure if this is possible though

Carwale has an option to list all the unanswered threads in the Forums page. I guess Experts / Mods can get into the link and answer using their experties.

Also it is the owner's responsibility to post a reminder so that it will again be listed at the top of the current threads, which will have more visibilitiy.

Also owners have an option to check how many people have read the thread. Which will certainly help to understand if the people are reading it or not. I have not seen any thread going unseen (unseen and not replied are different). Which means, people are reading the thread, but they probably do not have the answer to post for obvious reasons.
