Hello Friends,

Hope you all are doing well. It has been close to 9 months now that I am in Ozland and just thought of writing about the place, though, nothing has changed and there is no major news. All is well.

Sydney continues to be the same and as always is a fantastic place for the visitors and the weather has been awesome. The only difference I see is despite parity with the US dollar, cost of living has skyrocketed in Sydney. Thanks to the slowdown across the world, with Australia, like India, not having any impact of it, a lot of Europeans and Chinese have now flooded the entire city and with that ensured that the prices are way above what they were in 2006-07. Sydney was not a crowd before, but not anymore. The rush hour trains now come close to our local trains in Mumbai - Only difference being that you are safer here as the doors are engaged when the train is in motion and the trains are double decker so, there is a roof on top of those who ride on top, unlike Mumbai which is also a double decker by the way with the difference being that there is no roof for people travelling on the top. I still miss Mumbai !!

I have to also say that I bought a huge camera kit. Canon 7D with EF-S 15-85 mm IS USM lens (costed me close to 2300 AUD / INR 1.1 lakh. I also bought a Tamron Zoom lens 70-300 mm VR USD lens. The Tamron lens is an awesome piece of equiment. Planning to add a Flashgun  to it. The shopping items have been many. iPhone 4 rocks - awesome equipment. Also bought a Toshiba A660 laptop, which by the way has already visited the service center now, thanks to the fact that the hard disk crashed. The net effect of the harddisk crashing is that all the photos I have taken with my 7D have been washed away. Anyway, such is life.

Rest all is OK and I am having plans for a short visit to India in December. Was actually planning to come over in June, but, there are a few major pieces of work to be taken care of then.

Got a news from my tenants that the Bullet is resting well in deep coating of anti-rust and coconut oil. Really missing it. All the more so when I have a few people over here driving the Royal Enfields. Talking of which the feedback on the current crop of RE Bullets is not good at all - People miss the classic CI engine here as well. The UCE engine is a faint shadow of the original CI engine.

Will continue with the rest of the updates and keep you all posted.

Well I am as enthu about cars as I always was, but, I haven't yet got enough savings to buy a car - Secondly, a car is almost not needed here with out with the public transport being very good. Also, parking charges, insurance, taxes for an year almost equal to the cost of the car itself. So, car is not very economical here.

Cheers

Prasad
