Feeling very low today . It happened on a round about  . I was waiting on a signal and suddenly one drunk fellow banged his maruti van to my new Ritz(2 weeks old baby) and that caused whole front bumper to come out from the body. that guy was drunk and just took off by the time I could catch him( I noted his no and lodged a police complaint too) but I dont think I would expect anything out of him. Can you guys recommend what I should do, considering I would surely want my baby to back to new condition?. The bumper has come out and bumber has not broken but its packing ( the one which fits it with body) has been broken.

1. How much a new bumper would cost?

2. IF its under covered in maruti insurance?

Guys, please help me.. to get out of this sad moment.

I had a similar experience with my new Beat, two wheeler came and hit from behind and the  bumper had a dent which is a very common sight these days but an eye sore for the owner.

When I gave the car for 1st servicing....I told them to replace the bumper itself and I was told that plastic part of the car usually get only 50% coverage, rest will have to borne by the owner.  I was okay with that as well, but the service center did a good job on getting the dent repaired without having to change the bumper..and this was done free of cost.  Now there is only a small line on the bumper which is not very easily seen..I am okay with that.

I suggest you go and talk to the service center guys of Maruti...they may have some easy solution or just replace the bumper since it is a new car.

As Shann has explained the insurer will only refund 50% of the price for plastic and rubber parts.

If you are concerned about maintaining your NCB option it would be better to pay from the pocket for the same.

Moreover let the Maruti guys have a look at the bumper-as most of the clips on the same can be replaced and the bumper repainted and reused.

Checked with Maruti, they say it has to be replaced.. overall estimate came as 7k and I need to pay ~1200 and rest would be taken care in insurance. ( I would loose my NCB of 2.5k too)

It’s very tough to maintain the car in Bangalore’s heavy traffic – Just observe the cars on road – you can hardly find a car without any dent/scratch – So it can be taken as a accepted common scenario in Bangalore!

So if you want to maintain the car as a fresh one, forget about NCB – Now onwards you can clam all the future dents and scratches – and as of my understanding there is no difference between one claim or ten claims (Both will lose NCB).

My 3 weeks old Dzire also went through the same pain! – Bumper got a scratch by an auto and it got painted for Rs. 1300. But still there is small scratch above the bumper – for that the estimation is Rs. 3500, so  I have accepted that scratch

Got a big dent on the rear bumper of my 6 month old K10

Can the dent be corrected by just repairing it without replacing the part altogether.

The bumper is made of fiber, so just removing it and hammering it lightly from inside will it become normal, and do the service center guys agree to do this for the customer or will push us to claim insurance.

Surya, dents on bumper can be removed and minor breakages also can be repaired, if I'm right repairing is done by 3M plastic welding. My Esteem's front bumper's small dent was removed by a heat treatment and a crack in one of our Vista's bumper was repaired.  You can also have look at this post of Ravi sir.

Repairing a plastic part like the bumper is not a good thing to do if it has got a cut or tear. However, if there is a dent, it can be easily popped out by heating it. Then, it can be either painted or left as it it.

The bumper of an alto costs 2.5k including painting, so I dont think its a huge fix compared to other cars, like my SX4, which without paint costs 3k!

Hi Everyone,

First time i have claimed insurance for my K10 ( Bajaj Allianz )for the dents in the left side doors near handle.

The approx cost it came to 7500/- i had to pay 500Rs. as compulsory charges.

The big dent that had happened recently on the back bumber was set right with just heating and expanding the bumper. a few scratches are visible due to this, but the service center touched up .

All in all, it was a good experience, no hassles, just i had to fill the claim form and the rest the service center guys carried out with the surveyor. I wasn't even there in person when the surveyor was inspecting the car.

Hi Neeraj,

Had the similar experience today...posted the same in diff forum (http://www.carwale.com/forums/viewthread-12219.html)...could u please tell as how did you go about your bumper? Did you get it replaced or you got it repaired? I too have Ritz-Vxi. Also, need some inputs about NCB. How does it make difference in long term and is it advisable to claim insurance so early. My car is barely 2 months old.

Regards,

Ravish
