Ayush,
It could be from the steering(column/rack) as well. In the i20 whe net char travels over a rough patch of road or goes into a pothole, it too makes a "thud" sound. Besides, how many of the owners really knew what the steering rattle issue was before the whole thing was exposed. People were actually struggling to know what the steering rattle issue was.
I made a video to prove that the steering rattle issue does exist in the i20 and based on that video, many people concurred that they have the same rattle issue in their i20. As I posted on team-bhp before, it actually depends on the driver whether he notices the issue ot not. A while back, I drove a 2010 i20 and a 2011 i20, both of them had the same steering rattle issue(in the 2011 model, it was less because it was new vehicle), their respective owners were happily believing that it was normal and thought it wasn't the much feared steering rattle issue.
The new ugly looking Verna has the similar type of steering design. While it hasn't been concreterly reported yet, atleast not on the forums, let a Verna clock up around 6000 kms on the odo, lets see then.
Sanchit,
As you are aware, we are fighting the issue legally now. So, obviously I will have to keep the car till whatever time it takes to get a judgement from the court. Apart fom the steering issues, I am also fighting against the good for nothing workshop in Junagadh for its pitiful worksmanship, vengeful damage caused to my car and the issues that car developed because of their negligence.
Harsha's post just sums it all up. You are forced to keep the vehicle. The great people in Hyundai don't realise this. Why can't these jokers stand up to their arrogant Korean masters and take a stand to get this serious issue fixed?
