I am residing Bangalore with family of 1+2. Currently owning Zen. Happy with it for a normal office drive.(gives me 15km/l city drive) If any guests drop-in, and for outing this is not sufficient. So looking for mid-size car. Generally 30 Km/day usage. Once in 1 month may go out on high-way. Overall 800-900 Km is usage per month. Happend to see Fiat Petra once on road. Looks interesting, compared to Hyndai, Baleno. My Budget is around 6Lakhs. Comparing price, safety, looks and mileage is it worth going for this one? Ford Fiesta and Honda City looks great, but price also on higher end. If for lesser price, all (most of) features are avialble here in Petra, why not to consider Fiat Petra. How is maintence cost w.r.t others. Pls advise.

Dear Mr. Sastry, Fiat cars are a no-no in India considering the very bad image of Fiat in India. This is the biggest drawback of these cars and this keeps us to recommend and buyers to buy Fiat cars. Fiat Petra definitely provides many features at very low price but it struggles when it comes to economy. The car competes with Esteem, Baleno and Indigo which are far ahead in ownership cost. For record, Petra has poor fuel economy, high maintenance and poor (we don't have worse word than poor here) resale. It means with Petra you might get everything you desire in a car but the cost of having it pretty high. If you don't care much about the problems just told by us then you can definitely buy Petra and believe us it won't give you a setback in terms of driving, comfort or performance. Otherwise some good alternatives can be Baleno or maybe Esteem.
