Hi. I am experiencing a similar problem with my RITZ since last one year now. The foul smell is just like the odour emnating from an open gutter line. No the smell is not like burning rubber or plastic. What I have also observed is that the odour gets more concentrated and unbearable at times when the car is completely locked with all windows rolled up.  Also when the car interior is exposed to direct sunlight (windows rolled down) for 2 - 3 hours the odour gets minimized for a few days. In fact I have been following this routine of exposing the car interiors to direct sunlight after every 8-10 days or whenever the odour becomes unbearable. Also let me share with you that the tolerance to the odour differs from person to person. While my wife, kids and myself get agitated about it quickly my driver and my father are almost oblivious to it.

Unlike Pooja I am unable to confirm the high incidence of the foul odour when the car is in reverse gear. But I do agree that the odour peaks after about 10-15mins of running of the car.

ty for ur post and sorry for replying so late. No,i didnt went to service station after dey had replaced silencer for smell problem although gone for routine services.befor dis winters smell occured occationaly but now a days whenever we park car in the evening after a drive of say 7 8 km on a rush hour drive smell occurs.as long as driving is concern my husband drives the car now a days in proper gear positions as u say them .he always drives in city at the speed of 50 60 and on highways at the speed of 70 80.we always fuel our car from citco petrol pump(chandigarh government regulated pumps)  that to with normal petrol

i think there is some manufacturing defect as we had discussed with some other ritz owners also but dont know whn will i be ever get rid of this problem.
