disk size vs tyre size

if I fit 15" tyre in a 14" alloy wheel/disk, what are the problems that may cause? or is it not at all acceptable?

Well a given tyre can fit different rims within a certain rim size (width, NOT diameter) range. For this you need to do some calculations as shown here. It is somewhat technical in nature and frankly I too haven't understood it fully, but have a look at the section marked "An ideal rim-width calculator" - enter your tyre specs and click to see the rims that the tyre will fit on.

So, you cannot fit a 15" tyre onto a 14" rim and vice-versa.
