Hey Chandrasekar ,

Had been to the alloy dealer , he only had one design of 4.5 inch width , which i did'nt like . Thus , have now decided to raise the car a bit , around an inch . I guess alloys dont come in the 4.5 inch size any more , so the dealer said .

Had also paid a visit to one mechanic and discussed the issue with him , he said raising it 1 inch will fix the problem , said he will insert an aluminium disc to do the job. I have seen most people use rubber discs (lifters ?) for the purpose , can anyone tell me what is better and why ? The mechanic said aluminium discs are more stable . I am going to have it fixed over the weekend , any info would be appreciated.

Hi Kunal,

Thanks for the response. You might find this team-bhp thread useful.

Oh man, oh man... why did I not see that thread before I got alloys to my Astar. damn... the same problem... Only bright spot is I learned a few things about wheels in trying to fix this issue.

The best way to fix this is to get back to your 4.5 inch stock rim. Period.

Believe me I have tried everything. I had a 5.5x13 inch, the handeling was so wonderful and B.M. Lal service in Chennai was too good. But alas, the scrapping problem was noticed after 3.5 months when I had 5 people in the car with load. did not occur even with 4 people, and it happened only on the right rear wheel. Well... I tried to service with Cars India, I tried another alloy, then changed the brand, and then the brand and size. Now I have a Tiara alloys 5x13 inch made by Neo. Even that does not help. In fact that was the worst of the fit I ever had.

Stay with 4.5x13. Luckly I retained my stock rims which I reverted to. Now I am happy. Only thing is I have a new set of alloys 4 Nos. 3 weeks old with 1 year warranty that I need to sell or it would go waste.

The only thing I did not try was MGA alloy. May be those come at 4.5x13 inch.

One of the read said, just dont spend your time online and do some floor work in the mechanic place. Its very true. You get to learn a lot if you can apply your head around a bit hands on.

Again... the solution with out breaking your head.... REVERT to stock rims 4.5x13" and live happy.

Cheers

S.Guru
