Darry can you please elaborate a bit. Your plan seems really nice but unclear.

Which car, current setup, planned setup etc would be helpful.

Hi Dhanapal

Nice to hear from you again. No worries about the pictures. Going to start a new thread for showcasing the setups we all have. Will be good for other members to see the costs and get small reviews about various equipments.

Even I had little time because of my exams. Going to upgrade the i10's system tomorrow hopefully.

Dear CarWale Friends,

Greetings of the Day!

After owning a car for the last 4 years with a basic ICE setup given as a freebie by dealer, the ICE bug has finally bitten me. So I have been driven here to get your Sweet & Sound advice!

Car - Santro Xing

Present System - Basic Sony Xplod HU &  speakers in stock position (Not sure of the model numbers)

My preferences in the new setup:

a) Have a taste for clear, sweet and punchy music. not inclined  towards boomy/loud music

b) Mostly I will be driving the car and parents would be seated in the rear who may not appreciate       heavy sound from the rear. (so woofer ruled out I believe!)

c) Considering HU outlives the car itself - like to get one with most of the features.

CD & USB support (possibly rear USB), parametric equalizer, HPF/LPF,2/3 preouts, variable

colour illumination other sound setting adjustments.

d) At this point of time, I'm looking at a starting budget of 10K to 15K and maybe later expand         the system.

So considering I request you friends to suggest good HU and front & rear speakers.

Alsoplease clarify,

1) whether can go for components for the front as I drive mostly and leave the existing rear

    speakers for now

2) whether Amplifer is necessary for the setup to be proposed.

Based on your inputs planning to go for a HU & Speaker search this weekend.

Appreciate all you suggeestions!

Maruti 800:

Dash:4”

Doors:nil

Rear boot side panels :6x9

What is possible:

-The front dash location will only tak e a 4” driver and because of the size the general option would be to install 4” co-axial speakers but if budget is a little more accommodating then one can look at 4” components(infinity does market 4” components).

-the door pads can be cut to accommodate 5.25 inch speakers but the problems with rattling and poor long term fit would be quite apparent in the long run as the door pad trims are of poor quality.

-tail gate does have sufficient space for accommodating 5x7” speakers, the 6x9 size can be tried but would be pushing the limits.

-the easier way for a rear mount would be the ubiquitous rear parcel shelf or speakers in boxes.

Suzuki Alto:
Stock Door speaker size:No provision
Stock dash speaker size:4 inch

What is possible:
-The front dash location will only take a 4” driver and because of the size the general option would be to install 4” co-axial speakers but if budget is a little more accommodating then one can look at 4” components(infinity does market 4” components).

-the door pads can be cut to accommodate 5.25 inch speakers . the door pads are of adequate quality to take 5.25” speakers but size of the magnets might interfere with clearance of the window glass. Getting shallow mount speakers are the best bet.

-tail gate does have sufficient space for accommodating 5x7” speakers, the 6x9 size can be tried but would be pushing the limits.

-the easier way for a rear mount would be the ubiquitous rear parcel shelf or speakers in boxes.

thank you
