Maruti 800:

Dash:4”

Doors:nil

Rear boot side panels :6x9

What is possible:

-The front dash location will only tak e a 4” driver and because of the size the general option would be to install 4” co-axial speakers but if budget is a little more accommodating then one can look at 4” components(infinity does market 4” components).

-the door pads can be cut to accommodate 5.25 inch speakers but the problems with rattling and poor long term fit would be quite apparent in the long run as the door pad trims are of poor quality.

-tail gate does have sufficient space for accommodating 5x7” speakers, the 6x9 size can be tried but would be pushing the limits.

-the easier way for a rear mount would be the ubiquitous rear parcel shelf or speakers in boxes.

Suzuki Alto:
Stock Door speaker size:No provision
Stock dash speaker size:4 inch

-the door pads can be cut to accommodate 5.25 inch speakers . the door pads are of adequate quality to take 5.25” speakers but size of the magnets might interfere with clearance of the window glass. Getting shallow mount speakers are the best bet.

-tail gate does have sufficient space for accommodating 5x7” speakers, the 6x9 size can be tried but would be pushing the limits.

-the easier way for a rear mount would be the ubiquitous rear parcel shelf or speakers in boxes.

-the stock parcel shelf’s are of no use for direct use and should be replaced with a MDF shelf of at least ¾” thickness.

Suzuki A-star:

Stock Door speaker size:No provision
Stock dash speaker size:4 inch
What is possible:
-The front dash location will only take a 4” driver and because of the size the general option would be to install 4” co-axial speakers but if budget is a little more accommodating then one can look at 4” components(infinity does market 4” components).

-tail gate does have sufficient space for accommodating 5x7” speakers, the 6x9 size can be tried but would be pushing the limits.

-the easier way for a rear mount would be the ubiquitous rear parcel shelf .Speakers in boxes are not a good idea because of the limited boot space.

-the stock parcel shelf’s are of no use for direct use and should be replaced with a MDF shelf of at least ¾” thickness.

Suzuki Ritz:

Front door:5.25 inch

Dash:nil

Rear door: 5.25 inch

Parcel tray:nil

Whats possible:

-front doors can take 5.25” components easily and 6.5” components with a MDF spacer ring. The tweeters can be mount near the internal door release or on the ORVM pod trims for best effects.

-rear doors also take 5.25 or 6.5” speakers, components here would be an overkill, co-axials are the way forward.

-rear parcel tray mount 6x9” speakers are the best bang for the money but will be low on SQ compared to a 6.5” and a separate sub woofer.

-free air subs can be mounted on the rear parcel tray or for better SQ on its own ported enclosure in the boot.

-be vary of doing a lot of trim modifications are the swift is inherently a ‘rattle snake’!

-amps/3-way component/multi-sub setups with accessory batteries etc can all go inside the car.

Suzuki Swift:

Front door:5.25 inch

Dash:nil

Rear door: 5.25 inch

Parcel tray:nil

Whats possible:

-well this is the most ICEd car in India! The sky is the limit. The door trims are of quite good quality and will take quite a bit of modification.

Suzuki Dzire:

Front door:5.25 inch

Dash:nil

Rear door: nil

Rear parcel shelf: 5.25inch

Whats possible:

-front doors can take 5.25” components easily and 6.5” components with a MDF spacer ring. The tweeters can be mount near the internal door release or on the ORVM pod trims for best effects.

-rear doors don’t have stock speaker locations and are best left free.

-rear parcel tray takes 5.25” stock and 6.5” speakers with a bit of mods and its best to avoid cutting the rear parcel tray to install bigger(6x9)speakers as it forms a structural component of the car.

-free air subs can be mounted on the rear parcel tray but this again needs metal cutting and should be avoided the better option to have would be a ported enclosure in the boot.

-be vary of doing a lot of trim modifications are the swift is inherently a ‘rattle snake’!

-amps/3-way component/multi-sub setups with accessory batteries etc can all go inside the car

Suzuki SX4:

Front door:5.25”

Rear door:5.25”

Rear parcel tray:6.5”

Whats possible:

-front doors can take 5.25” components easily and 6.5” components with a MDF spacer ring. The tweeters can be mount near the internal door release or on the ORVM pod trims for best effects.

-rear doors also take 5.25 or 6.5” speakers, components here would be an overkill, co-axials are the way forward.

Maruti Esteem:
Stock Door speaker size:5.25 inch
Stock dash speaker size:4 inch
Whats possible:

-front dash only allows installation of 4” drivers and here the choice is quite limited. 4” co-axial speakers is the best option but if budget is a little more accommodating then one can look at 4” components(infinity does market 4” components).

-doors will take 5.25” directly and 6.5” speakers with mods, the stock grille in most cases would have to be cut. The door well is quite shallow and one would have to look for clearance between the speaker magnet and window glass when wound down.

-rear parcel tray takes 5.25” stock and 6.5” speakers with a bit of mods and its best to avoid cutting the rear parcel tray to install bigger(6x9)speakers as it forms a structural component of the car.

Tata Indica:
Stock Door speaker size:5.25 inch
Stock dash speaker size:4 inch

Rear door: nil

Parcel tray:nil

Whats possible:

-as usual the 5.25” speakers in the door can be replaced with 6.5” with the addition of MDF spacers, here also usage of the stock grille might be a problem.

-rear speakers on trays or boxes is the way forward, boxes wont cause much of a problem as the boot is large.

Tata Vista:

Front door:5.25 inch

Dash:4 inch

Rear door:5.25 inch

Parcel tray:nil

Whats possible:

-the stock positions leads to front heavy sound stage, beefing the rear fills is the ideal thing to do.

-few variants have 2-way components with inline cross over in the front.(like the anniversary editions)

Tata Manza:

Front door:5.25”

Rear door:5.25”

Whats possible:

-front doors can take 5.25” components easily and 6.5” components with a MDF spacer ring. The tweeters can be mount near the internal door release or on the ORVM pod trims for best effects.

-rear doors also take 5.25 or 6.5” speakers, components here would be an overkill, co-axials are the way forward.

-rear parcel tray takes 5.25” stock and 6.5” speakers with a bit of mods and its best to avoid cutting the rear parcel tray to install bigger(6x9)speakers as it forms a structural component of the car.

Tata Safari:

Front door:5.25”

Rear door:5.25”
Whats possible:

-Quite a lot actually, all the four doors can take 6.5” drivers with a spacer ring. Moreover the Safari can be turned into an real AV center with 2-way components, suba and wide screen monitors.

-because of the rear most seats, possibility for mounting subs might be a bit compromised. Tight bass can be had even with an slim underseat subwoofer.

-some models came with a std sub woofer

-certain variants have a 2-way component in the front(albeit with in-line crossover)

Hyundai Getz:

Front door:6.5”

Dash:nil

Rear door:6.5”

Rear parcel tray:nil

Whats possible:

-again this car can take quite a bit of customization. Its the budget that would have a linmiting effect on the installs possible.

-subs in custom enclosures, multi amp setups are all possible.

Hyundai Santro

Dash: 4”

Rear boot sidewall:5.25”

Whats possible:

-options as far as the front 4” slots are restricted, the side panels on the boot can take 5.25” speakers.

-rear parcel tray with speakers of choice would be the default way to go forward.

-boot side wall trim are a bit flimsy and the clamps used to hold the tray might sag overtime because of the weight.

Hyundai i10:

Front doors:5.25”

Rear doors:5.25”

Whats possible:

-this car is also quite customizable,6.5” drivers are quite possible on all four doors with MDF spacers.Rear parcel tray and box options are equally viable.

Hyundai i20:

Front doors:6.5” midbass and 1” tweeter (2-way components).

Rear Door:6.5”

Whats possible:

-stock setup is pretty decent with a 2-way component in the front, SQ is not a forte though and can well be upgraded.

-addition of a small sub in a ported enclosure would be an ideal initial step follwed by a change of speakers of the same sizes.

-the i20 is also pliable for quite a bit of standard mods but be vary of speaker clearance in the door wells.

Hyundai Verna:

Front door:6.5

Rear door:nil

Rear parcel tray:6x9”

Whats possible:

-change to 2-way components would form the initial step as the bass from the rear mounted speakers are quite good.

-amps and a small sub would form the second step.

Chevy Beat:

Stock dash: 4 inch

No provision for doors!

Rear parcel shelf:4 inch

Whats Possible:

-of the new car launches this car has quite a restrictive audio upgrade setup. Lack of provisions in the doors is also a let down.

-good 4” co-axials or the costlier 2-way 4” setup would give quite good SQ.

-rear speakers in boxes are not an options as the boot is quite restrictive.

-underseat sub with ovals on rear parcel tray would give max bag for the buck.

Chevy Spark:

Stock dash: 4 inch

No provision for doors!

Rear parcel shelf:4 inch

Whats possible:

- as for the beat.

Chevy Aveo:

Front door:5,25”(2-way components on the LE model)

Rear door:5.25”

Rear parcel: provision for 5.25 inch speakers.

Whats possible:

-upgradation to 6.5” speakers are not advisable even with spacers because of the lack of space.

-rear parcel tray speakers can be change to 6.5”, avoid cutting the same.

-if the LE models is on hand changing the front speakers to 5.25” 2-way components are the best bet.

Fiat Palio:

Front door: 6 inch

Dash:nil

Rear door:6 inch

Parcel ray-nil

Whats possible:

-all four speakers can be changed for better brands/components in the front. Boxed speakers or on parcels shelf’s are good options as the boot is relatively large.

-careful about the stock speaker grilles though.

Fiat Punto:

Front door:6.5”

Rear door: 5.25”

Whats possible:

-pretty standard fare, speaker upgrade with amps and subs are all possibilities.

Ford Ikon:

Front door:5.25”

Rear door:nil

Rear parcel shelf:5x7”

Whats possible:

-space for 6.5” speakers are restricted and so spacers would have to be used judiciously.

-rear speaker sizes are a bit odd and finding straight replacements are a bit hard. Fitting non-flush 6x9 speakers are a possibility.

Ford Fiesta:

Front doors: 5x7 components with tweeters inside the ORVM adjustment pods
Rear parcel tray: 5x7

Whats possible:

-front speaker sizes are odd ball and it would be hard to get replacement speakers in those sizes(there are some options that are available).

-using a elliptical to round spacer and fitting 6.5” 2-way components is easier to do due to the number of available options in that size.

-the issue will be regarding the quality of workmanship in making the said spacer as a badly fitting spacer would be detrimental to the upgrade.

Ford Fusion:

Front doors: 5x7 components with tweeters inside the ORVM adjustment pods
Rear parcel tray: 5x7

Whats possible:

-as for the fiesta

-boxed speakers in the back is also an option because of the relatively large boot.

Honda City(NHC):

Front door: 5.25”

Rear door:-nil

Rear parcel tray:5.25”

Whats possible:

-as for the ANHC

-HU upgrade is easier as the same is not intergrated into the dash as in the ANHC

Honda City(ANHC-2009):

Front door:5.25”

Rear door:5.25”

Rear parcel tray:nil

Whats possible:

-speaker upgrade to 6.5” as usual with the choice of components.

-a friend in the know report of the newer models coming with components in front(6 speakers) though am not able to confirm this at present

Mahindra Logan:

Front door: 5.25”

Rear door:5.25”

Whats possible:

-front doors can take 5.25” components easily and 6.5” components with a MDF spacer ring. The tweeters can be mount near the internal door release or on the ORVM pod trims for best effects.

Mahindra Scorpio:

Front door: 5.25”

Rear door:5.25”

Tail gate:can take 6x9

Whats possible:

-as for the safari, quite a bit of upgrades are possible.

-AV installs with subs and amps are quite possible.

-damping would have to be looked into to take care of the rattles though.

Toyota Innova:

Front door:5.25”

Rear door:5.25”

Whats possible:

-few old variants and new facelifted models come with front 2-way components albeit with a inline cross over.

-upgrading the same with a stand alone X-over would form one of the initial upgrade options.

-amps and subs can be easily added as the car is quite well built.

-most user look for a AV solution.
