Hi Guys,

Its been one great year driving my Linea. Thanks to all the people on this forum to help me make that decision to buy linea. I always value your suggestions and they are the best.

But now time has come again for all the hassles...getting 2nd service done and renewing the insurance. The insurance thing has realy got me in fix. Please help me out.

I have Bajaj alianz insurance done for my car and i want to renew it. Now what has hapened is that i got insurance renewal offer from 3 different companies and i am really confused which to choose.

# The Bajaj alianz guy called up - he is offering 40% discount + 20% NCB + 2% additional discount. Plus i asked him that i have heard bajaj is giving Anti theft device free, so he told me "madam you would get the gift". Not sure if he would give it.

# Oreintal isurance guy called me - he is offering 40% discount + 20% NCB. Plus he is giving Anti theft device free, which he said bajaj is giving as complimentary. With that oriental ins would give me some coupons for service or car wash. I doubt i would get the gift from bajaj. because oriental ins might say that is something Bajaj should be giving me, so contact them.

# Tata motors - they are offering 40% discount + 20% NCB. Nothing else.

Now, my car insurance is due on 28th march 2010, so i need to make decision. Guys, which one is the safe bet?

Thanks in Advance

Tata must be providing through Tata AIG.  All the 3 service providers are by & large good.  Terms/conditions are same.  Service is at par - quite competitive.  Therefore, amount of premium, discounts etc. should be the criteria for deciding upon the insurance provider.

Your car must be having some anti-theft devise - check what is being offered & whether the same is required or not - if not, ask for further cash discount in lieu thereof (if the provision exists).  In any case, do ensure & take commitment for anti-theft or further discount (the agent should be sure about the scheme).

NCB offered will always be same (all companies).  Premium will vary a little.  40% discount on how much premium - calculate the net amount/premium payable & then compare.

No, that doesn't matter.  But it's always better to get it through some agent (instead of dealer), as agents are generally more pro-active & concerned about business/competition (new policies/renewal) - and, therefore, they provide good service.

Avoid oriental . I presently have oriental insurance and their cashless facility is limited to only a few service centres , atleast for hyundai this is the case .

I'm not advocating for Oriental but all companies have some or the other restriction on cashless facility - it is not available at par at all garages.

The staff also work as agent for pvt. companies. Some agents work for multiple companies (in some or the other name).  Nothing wrong - as far as we are concerned.

A perfect example of why people should purchase the coverage provided by the rental company. Once you decline the coverage, your credit card is the collateral and you can’t do much to refute charges. And they can even charge you for lost rental fees while their car is being repaired. It’s expensive coverage, but the peace of mind is often worth the cost.
