I owns Maruti Zen Vxi 78000km done on odo, i am planning to installed CNG Kit in this vehicle.
Here are my  question,  :
Does it make sense to installed CNG now as vehicle has already  covered 78000km ? ( condition of vehicle is good, getting 13km avg  with AC in City limits)
Enquired in Mumbai for CNG kits rates, vendor has quoted 35k with Lambda and Tap for 12kg tank with RTO approval. which will take 9.5 kg of  CNG.   – Is this value correct ?
What avg i shd expect per g of CNG ? ( and on full tank with AC on ) ?
Any harm to engine ?
Cost of maintenance due to CNG ?
Will vehicle get good resale vale after 3 yrs ?  ( if yes what will be the ratio with Normal Zen car of same age )
my daily running is 60km, what will be  break even time for CNG tank investment ? in Mumbai cng is 22rs/ kg ?

Regards,
Jitendra

Hi jitendra, Per Km cost of petrol is around Rs. 4.00. by installing CNG it will come to around 1.20. F.E. in CNG will go up to 18. So Breatk even will be at around 13K kms. If you intend to keep the vehicle for 3 more years, you will save lots of money considering your high daily usage. The money saved will be much higer than the reduction in resale price + increase in maintanence in car. If I were you I would go for CNG immediately. All the best.

Speaking in general... the prices have since come down. Currently CNG kits cost (after discounts) as low as 30-32K (down from 35-40K).  Compare the prices locally with a few other retrofitters. Do go for original Italian kit.

Hello, I did lot of research with CNG fitters , they are offersing Italian Kit for 35k with TAP and RTO registration, but none of them giving LAMBDA, they says LAMBDA is not required for Maruti Zen as its a samll car, is this corret  ?  if i dont install LAMBDA what damages will happen to vehicle ?

Sorry jitendra, I did not follow this thread and hence not replied to your querry. First of all i do not own a CNG vehicle, but have the information gathered from friends and relatives. They are very muc satisfied. One of my neighbour has Fixed CNG in his Zen when the car has already done 65/70K. In your case as you intend to keep the car for another 3 years, it makes sense to install a CNg kit. all the best.
