Well, there have been a couple of posts/articles by me for DIY fixes that I posted here (driveshaft fix, door lock fix). I am sure there will be others who have done so and posted. But over time these posts get so old that they are probably never noticed.

So, would it be possible to create a new forum category (possibly called "DIY fixes/repairs" under the "Maintain your car" category just to hold such posts. That way all DIY fix related posts & threads can go there and have some chance of being seen - it can also act as a sort of reference specific to practiaclly applying fixes. There could be some criteria by which a post could qualify for placement in this category - like it should have information/steps to actually carry out a repair or fix.

Or maybe have a section on the website itself containing such stuff - people can submit their posts which could then be screened for eligibility.

Why I raise this is because "Maintain your car" has all sorts of posts - people asking questions ("I have so-and-so problem", "My car won't start", and so on and so forth, getting answers, discussing and all that - so its very generic so to speak. We need a category which contains only solutions (repairs/fixes/advice/etc.) which can be used as a ready reference.

+1, but with caveats.

I am waiting for the outcome on refactoring the articles forum. The solution adopted for that forum will be equally applicable on the solutions forum. I would want the solutions forum a collection of crisp and usful/usable writeups  rather than a general cacophony of guesses and conjectures. We can discuss the topic in Maintain forum, and relocate the gist to solutions, after appropriate editing and incorporation of comments.

Wotsay?

That would be better.

'Index' DIY threads can be showcased in the Articles section and subsequent 'repeats' on the same/discussions could be had in a sub section.

Hmm...I can see this concept still has some interest. Unfortunately, all the mods who have posted in favour are no longer active on the forum, else we would see some movement regarding this...
