Community page updates + Reviving MoM + Misc

1. Community page has not been updated in quite a while. Any chance it can be  resurrected and managed in the near future?

2. Please remove MODs names from top contributors / top contributor for the month lists. I did not ask any MOD for agreement, but this is elementary. MODs are anyways not interested in their names appearing up there, so others can as well get a chance to get listed.

A while ago I too was on the Community page & did get the same feeling.  The MoM portion should be removed or updated every month. It somehow got discontinued.

On point 2, I must say it's a good idea.  The names should at least be removed from list of current month.  Not that I/we are interested to appear in the other list but that's a consolidated position as a whole, which even askers/readers/visitors may like to know.

Agree on both.

#1: I think we should revive it? How do we take it forward?

#2: Will get it done as soon as I can. Let's keep one week target for it! Lol.

#1 - Two awards!

One for 'Member of the month'-the members profile photo and profile link can be displayed on the CW webpage or the forums page-for a month.

Gift?-the display itself would be a nice gift or some discount coupons on items on the accessories section.

'Member of the year'-awarded at the annual National meet, along with a physical gift.

#2 - great idea Krishna, our names have to be removed from the 'Top contributor of the month' list, but should be retained in the 'Top contributor' list(as this shows cumulative posts).

More over i feel there should be a link at the very bottom of the forum page with the moderator names with active links or a single active link as 'Carwale Forum Support'-taking the user to the moderators list or to a link that gives PM facilities to mods from the user.

It got discontinued ONLY because WE FAILED do the exercise regularly/timely (let's admit).

Yes, we should revive MoM & ensure that the same is announced invariably by the 10th day of the succeeding month to the month it pertains to, and the community page etc. too should be updated concurrently.  The gift (whatever) should be dispatched thereafter within another 10 days (max).

I suggest (at least to begin with), we may continue the criteria we followed before.  Top contributor/s may not necessarily be in terms of post-counts.  His/her contribution in terms of quality of participation may also be taken in to account.  We may also continue with the earlier strategy of awarding/splitting the price (money/gift/coupon) equally amongst 3 top contributors so selected.

Edit: Member of the year is a very good idea, Binoy. MoY can be selected from the MoMs.

If it is difficult to measure the contribution of the member in terms of quality of participation,  Ban can coordinate the 3 mods for preparing the shortlist. Then the quality as well as  quantity can be evaluated to find the best.

Why can't we have "thank the contributor" option for each post. The person receiving most 'thanks' can be easily considered for MoM.

'Thank the contributor' is a good idea - independently.  But for determining the quality of the posts/participations it may not be very helpful.  I personally feel so, as it may not necessarily give a correct picture - for the fact that the tool may or may not be used regularly or by all & for all. Personal preferences may also defeat the purpose.

The MoM got discontinued only for the reasons stated before.  Otherwise, till it was in place, MoMs were selected by the team of Mods - very impartially - after scrutinising & discussing the post-counts & quality of participation.

Let's spawn the 'thanks' idea as a separate thread to track it to closure independently.

I think to get the overall picture from the data through number of posts, thanks, and the posts themselves should not be that big a task. And yes, the process can be amended whenever the need for improvement is felt.

PS: To think of it, I got MODed without the benefit of a single MoM award (Can't choose an emoticon - confused! )

Krishna, are you happy? You would now NOT even qualify for a single MoM Real bad luck. LoL.

We may bring-in improvements (true).  But let's BEGIN by reviving MoM immediately - this month onwards itself, I suggest.  Improvements (whatever) may follow.

Why not a second MoM? Moderator of the Month. Consolation for mods.
