There is no technical problem as such, your car's engine life would remain intact too. As far as RTO-approval for Indigo with LPG-kit is concerned, its there. I think the service-center you talked to is incapable of doing the same. Ask him reason for the inability. Don't fit LPG-kit if it can't be approved by RTO under any circumstances.

The car would be 25-30% more economic than prior to the retrofitment.

Sujath your mileage will drop by about 20% when you fit lpg. But since lpg is 50% cheaper than petrol, you still gain quite a lot. So for eg if your earlier mileage was 12kpl @ rs. 50/lt, now it will be 10kpl @ rs.25/lt (lpg)

1. yes sujath .... it makes sense to fit an lpg kit

2. yes lpg will affect engine life ... engine life will increase visavis petrol

3. no problems at all excepting routine maintainance n repairs ... provided u fit a good italian lpg kit from a reliable fitter

4. there r umpteen legally endorsed indigos running on th roads ........i am sure th marina wud b legally endorsed too ....... check with 2-3 big fitters

5. yes insurance will b valid ......provided u inform ur insurance co of th fitment of th lpg kit and get th entry under fuel column changed from 'petrol;' to ' petrol and lpg ' on ur certificate

6. in city driving 1 ltr of lpg will give abt 80-85% of wot petrol wud give on th same car .... at mumbai prices that works out to savings of abt 40% over petrol usage
