"You also get REAR AC VENTS, probable first in the class." I dont think it has rear AC vents. The first service is at 10k Km so it will be a long wait for the fuel efficiency to match 12-14Km/lit figure.I also test drove this Saturday. I am impressed. The engine is not as refined as Swift's. But the feeling inside the Fabia is lot better than Swift.

Ya i am agree with "REar AC point" because i already purchase a Fabia 1.2 (Ambiente)Petrol 1.5 month ago. my fabia give me 8KM/ltr avg. on city. but not time to check on highway the power/pickup is good when you drive on 2/3 gear, on first gear it is ok. skoda provide only 1 free service after 1yr/10K kms whichever is earlier.

Dear friends, Thanks for your comments. The Ambiente version has the AC ducts below the drivers & front passengers seat, meant for rear cooling. Infact you also get a cool glove box for keep ing your water & chocolates cold.As regards to mileage I shall be happy to have even 11-12kmpl as SAFETY with a robust body was my prime consideration. Please ask your dealer to provide you that variant which has IPOD connectivity. Shall keep you all posted. Thanks & Regards, Rajan

Dear Friends, one thing which I found irritating with fabia is that they do not provide remote operated fuel cap, which means every time you need to open it with keys and also there is a possibility of inquisitive children to open the fuel cap as it can be opened easily. Strangely OCTAVIA has it as standard. Regards, rajan

Comparison should be made between similar models. The author here compares the top level variant of SWIFT with the lowest-level variant of FABIA. Lets make this clear - SWIFT Vxi comes for 4.75 lacs - that includes accessories such as mud guards, stereo system, seat covers, air freshener, etc. You end up paying 1.5 lacs more for a car that is smaller in width (1642mm in comparison to SWFIT 1692mm) and no more in any relevant features.

The point on safety - no reason has been stated to believe that SWIFT is less secure than FABIA. Infact, if u make both cars stand side by side, I wud definitely feel more secure in a SWIFT. The built of SWIFT is much more dominating ans sturdy and its bonnet reminds me of the old horse Ambassador. FABIA looks cramped and skinny in front of a swift. The looks of Fabia are a poor attempt to copy the SWIFT. Its rear reminds me of FIAT UNO.

The service -you get 3 free services in SWIFT withing the first year itself. The people r extremely nice. For months after the purchase u get their calls for any problems u might have. The car is hand picked by their drivers for service from your door step. On 2 occasions I needed new mud guards as they had come off while driving. They replaced them without cost.In 1 service, there was a minor scratch on rear bumper - not even noticeable. But on my complaint, they replaced it free of cost

Maruti products come with an Immobilizer. The car wont start with a duplicate key. The AC is so effective that u need no rear vents at all. I rarely use it at full power. The pickup is extremely good even with AC on. I wud say, its worth every minute of your wait for 2 months.
