Hi Guys,

On friday morning, my car got trashed by someone else. Frown

I parked to the extreme left of the road and went to my friends home for an hour. My friend is staying in SP koil near chennai. Since the street was too small, i just parked the car on the main GST road itself and went. After ab hour, i found that the car was completely dashed one side.

The entire damage happened in left side. Bonnet, bumper, fenders and front doors got severe damages. It was early morning and me and my friends were planning to go to villupuram for a marriage.

After the crash at arounf 6 AM in the morning, i found no one was around i took the car and parked in my office in mahindra city which is only 2 km away from the spot. Immediately called company folks and they towed my car to workshop.

The damage is expected tp be 80K. Can you please help me out how i can proceed. I was not able to file an FIR at that moment. dealer said it could have been beter if i had filed. He also said that the damage is above 50K, they might feel reluctant to accept the reason i provided.

Can u guys please help me out how i can deal this. Will surveyor be harsh to accept teh reason.

Arun:- That is unfortunate. Did you park your vehicle on the right hand side of the road (as your car's left is damaged)?

I dont think getting insurance without FIR should be a problem. Let others experts reply.

If the car is not repaired yet, you can file an FIR now also. Contact the concerned traffic police station.

You can live in your car, but you can't drive your house.

On whether, or not, FIR is required to be filed, please go through this discussion.

I had a similar accident sometime ago (2006) and the real bill came to 66k. I didn't file FIR but got the claim processed. The work was carried by Manipal Motors, Porur and the insurer was ICICI Lombard.
