Hi

I have a Wagon R Lxi & have already run 25000 KM. I would want to get the vehicle converted to LPG now. For which i have these queries:

1. Torodail Tank: from where can I purchase Torodail LPG Tank in Delhi/NCR.

2. Average: What would be the average if my 90% running is on Delhi-Gurgaon highway.

3. Engine Load: people say engine bears extra load on LPG and fades out in longer run. Is it true?

Thanks Guys

1. any lpg fitter .. the same fitter who will fit the kit will fit the toroidal tank

2. with a good kit and fitting - over 80% of what you are getting on petrol

3. untrue

The running cost will be cheaper by 25% or so as compared to Petrol.  LPG (or CNG) is generally preferred when the run/usage is substantially high. If it suits your requirements/preferences, go ahead - it's a good car.

I am planning to buy the Wagon Duo Lxi.I had initially shortlisted Wagon R Duo and Santro Eco. But owing to better after sales service and resale value, I have opted for Wagon R Duo. Pls tell if my decision is right. Which of these would give me a better milleage.?

How do we calculate the milleage for Wagon R in LPG mode coz there is always a need for petrol initally?

Hi All,

I own second hand 2007 make Wagon-R duo and purchased it from Maruti True Value. I have already clocked over 5000Kms. I have tried capturing the FE few times and it avg out to be 2Rs/km. My car does somewhere around 13+kms/ltr with NO AC.

On few occassion i have noticed that i does lesser than 13km/ltr. This could be due to the fact that Petrol pump staff is cheating on me by pumping the air instead of LPG but then there is little that we can do about it.

Till today i have not faced any issue with LPG, my car is responsive. I usually start my car on Petrol and switch it to LPG after a km run. Somewhere i heard that LPG performs better when engine is hot, so i try to switch to LPG mode only when engine is hot.

I have run of 80km on daily basis and in one filling [18+kgs] and i do somewhere around 240+kms. Run on Wagon-R duo does pinches as my pockets run no deep.

The only advantage of LPG over CNG is that you need not to wait endlessly in those long queues for GAS. I have seen few people get up early in the morning just to get their share of CNG ... never seen such an urgency for showing up early in office ;) [just kidding]

I hope readers find it useful.

Thanks,
Pritpal Singh

A person told me that cars with LPG and Petrol facility gives lower mileage than only petrol driven cars. Is it true? Does driving only on LPG have any adverse effect on the engine especially in the summer time?

What is the mileage of the car on petrol and on LPG., in city without Ac

I am running a Wagon R Duo since last two months and have clocked 3000kms already. Have undergone the first servicing also. I run the mostly in LPG using petrol only when LPG runs out in highways or when I am outside Calcutta where I do not get any gas stations. I have run 330kms in full tank LPG (22.5lts) once. However it is erratic as I have clocked only 200 or sometimes 250 and even 280 kms in full tank in LPG. Is it because the guys at LPG pumping stations are putting air instead of LPG? In case of petrol, I have noticed I am only getting 14km/lt on highways (I drive almost 90-95% on highways) in petrol. A person told me that cars with LPG and Petrol facility gives lower mileage than only petrol driven cars. Is it true? Does driving only on LPG have any adverse effect on the engine especially in the summer time?

Hi,

I have a Indica Xeta LPG, been using it for the last 14 months now, I also have some issues with inconsitency in mileage calculation while using LPG. The main reasons for this as per my observations is the LPG dispenser being used at the Gas Stations. I have many times noticed while fueling that there is some amount of gas leakage happening from the nozzle while it is attached to the car. You can make this out by visually observing the gas leaking (u can make out that evetying becomes kind of blurred when u view). The dispensar shows this as gas filled whereas the full quantity is not getting captured in our lpg tank. Hence we end up calculating a lower mileage as we divide using higher amount of LPG, whereas its actually lower. ALso the 2nd big issue is the calibration and maintenance of the LPG dispensar at the gas stations. Since Gas leakage cannot be detected easily, i am very sceptical about the accuracy of the dispensar readings. Try 3-4 LPG stations and get statisfied for yoyself about the dispensar accuracy by continously monitoring the mileage form various gas stations. and then just stick to one gas station.
