Hi,

@ Karan,
Yes, it is advisable to let the car run on petrol for about five minutes or so. It is because the combustion characteristics of the engine with LPG are different than petrol to a little extent.

As far as the mileage of the car is concerned, anything below 11/12 is surely not a good number. Maybe there is a problem with the Solenoid valve which will not allow the LPG to go to the Vaporizer properly. Get this checked.

hi Ashish..... yes i do that in the morning ...n wen i c the temerature meter rising from C (which suggests tht the engine has warned up a bit),then i change over to LPG.....actually automatic mode is the best part...no manual funda's.... but i drive on petrol for 1-2 kms only while coldstarting..... at other times..wen the temperature of the car is already at normal (slightly less than half)...den i just start n change it quickly to LPG... i hope ders ntn wrong with this ??...... because the car ALWAYS starts with petrol.

Well I think it is not necessary that we need to manually change over to lpg from petrol after you start the car, for Wagon R Duo. As mentioned by Gambhir, it has an auto mode, where this aspect is taken care of. I just am doubtful that if we continue using auto mode it should not have repercussions after 2-3 years. Ashish / Sharma please advise.

Mileage in city driving of Mumbai is definitely just 9 kmpl. Ofcourse my Duo is just 1.5 months old. But when on highway I have got 10.5kmpl too. All this should improve after 3000kms, I guess.

Don't be apprehensive about the repercussions, such things wont happen since they are modern units. Also, regarding the mileage, do get the Solenoid valve.

Ashish,

Do you think the authorised service station might have already checked the solenoid valve in the first servicing. If not, then I should insist upon them for the same! Right?

So according to you, after the lpg goes in the vaporiser unit properly, even on city driving I should be able to get better mileage? Atleast 11 kmpl.

Jaideep,

Yes, we believe that the solenoid valve setting might be the cause. You should get this checked with an authorised service station. Get the issue sorted out and the mileage should increase for sure. Let me know about this matter, would bring addition to my knowledge too.

Thanks!

Ashish,

I got reply from the authorised dealer that there is no solenoid valve. It has a MPFI engine which is computerised tuned. They do not open it, unless damaged.

For mileage they say, it will further improve after 3000kms. Lets see if it really does.

Does anyone over here who are using Wagon R duo getting better average than 11-12kmpl in city?

i m surte it should improvwe after ur 2dn servicing..... my car has suddenly shot up wid averages..... dunno how ...but yes...its been between 15-16 for the last 4 fills !!!....(900 kms) but that is because now the Ac isnt required as much...earlier it was always on....now its like on for 40 % of the drive.(on all the time during day..n off at night time).... but thats quite a differnce ....!!!
