I wanted to know how much profitable it is to go for a dual kit version of any car (like Santro Eco or Wagon R Duo). Is it true that using the car on gas does reduve the performance as well as the life of an engine?

Just a query. I would like to hear the opinions of the experts here. Smile

Hi. Please consider the duals only if you usage is atleast about 1000kms a month. I drive a Spark LPG and my usage is in the range of 900-1000 per month. Also the LPG prices are increasing every month and hence please do calculate all these aspects before you decide.

Since these cars are designed to run on LPG, you need not worry about engine life. Regarding the performance in LPG, well it depends on the car. I have not driven the WagonR duo hence i cannot comment but from my experiences in the Spark and Santro LPG models, i can assure that there is no difference between LPG and petrol in the Spark while the same cannot be said about the Santro which dips in performance in LPG.

Going for DUO's always comes as a good option since the cost of LPG is less than petrol and the mileage is almost equivalent or i must say a little less than petrol. However, since these car runs on both LPG & Petrol you always have option. If you are going for the performance front and you are one of those guys who do not care about Mileage and only thing that bothers is performance, then i suggest you should go for a Petrol powered car.

Hope this helps.

i fully support Anandh, gas is economical, performance comes down, no issues with regard to engine life, i'm using Santro CNG, there's a lot of difference in fuel charges in a month, but if your usage is less than 1000 km per month, stick to a petrol car with good fuel efficiency like i10, Ritz, or Swift

The way LPG prices have been rising I seriously don't think one would continue to have substantial saving with LPG.Though CNG could still be cheaper but it's the availability of CNG stations that's more of a problem.
