It would be nice if there could be an icon or indicator that shows if the logged in user has made any posts to a given thread. You see its not so easy for one to track all the threads s/he has posted in. The indicator will simply be a star or some such symbol which will show in the 1st column  of the thread listing if the logged in user has made any post (create/reply) in that thread - so users would know which threads they have touched.

How will it benefit?

Currently the easy way to check the participation of members is through their profile (reach profile by clicking the name).  For instance, this is the last 5 threads you have participated in (scroll a little) - visible under the head 'Posts in the Forums'.  Besides, just below that if you click 'All posts by the member', this is the list of all your posts.

It will benefit the user by making it more intuitive to recognise threads where the user has posted. Currently if a user wants to see the threads to which s/he has posted they have to go to their profile page and check it (basically a long cut and user has to navigate away from the current page). Instead it will be better if the thread itself indicates to the user that s/he has posted in it - it will save a few clicks on the user's side and make it more user-friendly.

But will it not mean something like having a list of participants tagged to each thread?

Is such a thing really required?

No no Pankaj you misunderstood - we won't show any participant list. See it this way: Suppose there are threads Thread 1 and Thread 3 in which you post. Now when you view the thread list without logging in, you won't see any special symbol (say '*') in the column to the left of the thread title. Once you log in, system knows (or can find out) that you have posted in that thread so it will show a '*' in that column.

Without logging in:

Welcome, guest
  Thread title Last reply by
  Thread 1 xyz
  Thread 2 abc
  Thread 3 def

After logging in:

Welcome, Pankaj.Prasad
  Thread title Last reply by
* Thread 1 xyz
  Thread 2 abc
* Thread 3 def

This way, simply by looking at the thread listing you can find out if you have posted in a thread or not. So now you don't have to remember which thread you have posted in or search for it - simply by browsing the threads you will know by a glance which threads you have replied in and click them as usual to view posts or post replies in them. Of course one can still user the search post method.

Sorry Rohit for the confusion.  Yes, what you say is different & will help.  Currently, we can make out only after opening the thread - from whether, or not, the option to 'subcribe to this thread' is available.

I think the same 'platform/data/program' could be used suitably & based on some coding or whatever, a star/icon could be displayed, as suggested by you, along side the threads that have been participated in.

Innocent I think the info being sought is the 'my subscription' link output. Already available. Why reinvent the wheel?

A marginal utility improvement would be last post link embedded in the last post column details. This is available on several other fora where I participate.

True but Rohit is suggesting that it should be apparent - readily - from any thread/list (without going to links like my subscription/profile etc.)

Well Pankaj, Krishna the feature that I'm talking of is available in many other fora - especially those using the PhpBB forum software. This feature is basically a usability related thing in that it makes the site easier to use.
