We can see that if a new thread is not replied during the first two days of posting there will not be any activity in that. We watch only new posts and new threads.

If we have a section entirely dedicated for all unanswered queries from other sections, it will be easy to all members to notice the same and there will not be any unanswered queries remaining. It also attracts more new members to stay active.

Discuss.

Second that!

This could be something like a search folder in outlook. Can it be made available through a link like new posts/todays posts/unanswered queries (1 post in a thread) or something similar.

It's a very good suggestion.  Forums & members will definitely benefit from this.  Thanks Feroz.

Making it available through a link, as suggested by Krishna, would probably be the best & simplest way of doing it, and would be very effective.

This should surely be implemented.

I too second this. Probably all the posts with "0" replies past last 24 hrs could be collected together and a link be provided, as Krishna suggested. This is indeed a very good suggestion and I am sure this would definitely help having more n more active members in the forum.

+1

But I think we should consider unanswered posts in last 7 days. Maybe the volume would be higher initially but later it will get in sync.

Another solution is to show all the unanswered threads, however, since the number of such threads is pretty large (~1000), maybe we have to purge (delete/close) such threads started prior to Dec 09.

Yes. It would be better to archive post unanswered older than one month or so rather than delete, as in future another person may have same query and so this post should be available for search and then this post could be made active again and answered. Delete would mean creating same thread gain later by someone else. No harm in doing this,  but I personally feel, revisiting old thread helps more than re-creating new.

I don't think the number of unanswered threads would be very high.

In any case, I suggest let's ignore the past - up to Dec 09 (suggested by Banwari) - for the fact that the askers have gone (let the threads remain, however).  This ignoring may not sound very good but it's a practical approach - to begin with - in my opinion.

Let's start from the current position - last 7 or 15 days.  The position will soon be streamlined & will hardly have any unanswered threads more than 2-3 days.  Today some of the threads remain unanswered only because those somehow go unnoticed.

Just have a link that says "View all unanswered posts" - clicking that will open a page (in a new window) similar to the main forum page with all forum categories but with only the unanswered posts listed (topics with zero replies).

Quite significant issue raised by Feroz and the discussed solution seems to be quite nice.

Can i suggest to have the unanswered threads to form the first slots in the 'New Posts' slot instead of having a different link altogether. That way with a single link we can get access to both together.
