Check engine light is the car's way of telling you that something isn't right - and it may not be the engine at all per se. It could point to a fault (or abnormal) condition in any of its sensors, especially the MAP (or MAF), O2, TPS, and so on... Does the light come on when driven in petrol mode? If yes, try driving purely in petrol mode for a week or so and then see if the light goes away. Alternatively, disconnect the battery's negative cable for 10 mins or so - that should clear all error codes. Then drive in petrol mode for a couple of days to see if the light comes on. If not then see if it comes on in CNG mode.

If light comes on in petrol mode then there is something wrong with the engine or sensors. If its particular only to CNG mode then it may be something to do with the CNG installation or settings.

Hi Gurpreet,

Sorry for delay in reply.

Yes the problem is over for month depends on your driving per day or so and my observation on this are -

1. first get the cng kit tuned by the fitter after the service and again after 5000Kms done or if the problem starts appearing

2. keep the air filter clean, weekly cleaning what I am following

3. I am getting the air filter changed at every 10000 kms

But Dear just now I have noticed some serious trouble after my car has done 118000 Kms, few week back the engine started consuming the engine oil. I have to get my car checked by honda people this weekend. I am bit worried and suspecious of some engine overhall work, seems to be caused by CNG use. I got the kit installed at 35000 Kms and driving 5Kms on petrol daily in morning, my daily average running is 90kms.

I am a worried man these days and should have gone for a diesel car instead fitting cng in my expensive car.

Hi Rohit,

I installed CNG in my SX4 2008 model 2 days back.I installed with ecogas delhi which is a reknowned retrofitter. But they didnt install either Lamda or Advancer.Lamda they said will give tuning issue and Advancer he said is not required for sx4/honda city.

Now I am getting engine check light both for petrol and cng running.Mileage I have to check as till now i have drivern 60kms only.

I am worried for this engine check light which eco gas guys are saying is normal and expected.
