Insurance obtained directly from outside are generally cheaper than those offered through dealers.  It's not mandatory to obtain insurance through dealers - though they may insist.

Go for the one that offers better premium - provided the coverage (terms etc.) is at par.  Services offered are quite competitive these days.

Also check with CarWale Insurance Department. Their rates are the best I was quoted.

Which one you opted then ?

also, I have a query to all :

Getting an insurance from outside is cheaper. that is fine. But, what are effects/side-effects/troubles does it provides when we want to claim the insurance.  I meant, any problems in claiming the insurance ?  Any problems/delays in getting the work done from the show-room, as the dealer do not have any tie-ups with the out-side insurance company ?  Apart form the money, how to identify if the out-side insurance company is providing better service ? and the company's agent will be available whenever and wherever if user meets an accident ?

There are no 'side effects' of obtaining insurance from outside (other than the dealer).  The agent will provide the services, as would the dealer do.  The service is quite competitive - nothing to worry.

Yes there will be no side effects. Eventhough the dealer may try to convince you to take insurance through them only. In many cases, taking insurance from outside works out to be much cheaper and the whole claim process during a claim works out to be much smoother.

Take the case our old Swift. Since MAruti has a tie-up with NAtional Insurance, w took the insurance through it(M/S Perfect Auto Serviced, JND). The car had a minor accident which damaged the front bumper. All it required was minor repairs and re-paint(IMO the car whould have been handed back to me on the same day itself). The guy at the workshop told me it would take two days to deliver the car back to me, the first day the car would be surveyed and repairs would be approved and the next day the car would be repaired.

Fast forward to the third year,( we had taken insurance from ICICI). On a stormy night, the front windshield got cracked by some object which flew and hit the windshield.  I spoke to the the other Maruti A.S.S(M/S Atul Motors, JND). I was pleasently surprising that he was willing to give the car back on the same day of giving the car for windshield replacment . Everything was mooth, the car reached the workshop at 09:30 am, there was no headache for me at all. the insurance surveyor was called, he checked & authorised the replacement, the  windshield was replaced and the car handed back to me in the evening. All the repairs were cashless. I only had to pay differential amount for the rubber parts & others. THe insurance co paid 100% for the windshield glass.

It also depends a lot on the competence & friendliness of the workshop manager, IMO.
