Sandesh, surprising you chose to travel by Logan when Mum<->M'lore connectivity is very good by Konkan railway.

Vahanpujari, nice travalogue. You seem to be in love with your MID. Tongue out The vehicle is indeed superb, if this is how it makes its owner feel on such a long journey. I did a 1600 km round trip once in my Honda City, and the most enduring memory of the trip is the sore bottom I had driving all the while

Krishna - Wanted to share FE update & hence more pics of MID. THough its my mistake that I forgot to mention them as FE update snaps

Yes. The journey was very very comforting. Earlier I drove Linea from Mumbai to Goa for some-600 kms& I was the only one to drive. Even after 12 hours of driving, I felt like fresh ready to hit the beach after the journey. Smile

Actually, I did not want to write a travelouge as am not good at narration.

@Amit - Nope, I am with the other lifeline industry of Veraval and the one which makes outsiders cover their noses while travelling through  the GIDC area - the fisheries export industryLaughingSmile. Yes the bike trip was exciting -a mix of fun, fear and then relief. The thing that scared the hell out of us was when a lone trucker going the opposite way told us not to hang out there as lions and leopards were frequently sighted on that particular stretch. We had to push our bikes  to the nearest village for petrol, it was raining and almost dark when we reached that village for fuel. I was foolish of us to put those "100", "200" worth of petrol on an unknown route. I was a long time back though.

@krishna- i do know about the konkan railway. In fact we have a direct train originating from Veraval that stops in Mangalore(Kankanady/Mangalore JN), that's the train we normally take to reach Mangalore directly. But this time, our business trip involved visiting Mumbai, Ratnagiri, Panaji, Kundapur, Kota and Mangalore, added to that we had a couple of foreigners who wanted to visit the same places for business. So we had to take our relative's Logan to fit them in and their luggage. One of the foreigners wanted to drive the vehicle, so he took over for some time on the mumbai-ratnagiri route. He was driving the logan perfectly like an off road racing car, maintaining the lane perfectly on the  climbing, curvy roads - shifting correctly, driving fast and yet not wildly or dangerously.

The drive back to Mumbai from Mangalore was beautiful. The roads from Hubli to Mumbai were fantastic, four laned with great scenery.

OT: Sandesh/Krishna, Logan may lack the driving pleasure but is a very spacious & comfortable car.  It has very good suspensions - just right for our type of roads.

Vahan, nice write-up & photos.  Please upload more photos & share your other experiences of the trip. In a few more posts, you will expertise in travelogue Smile

Agreed. The Logan is very spacious, the legroom in the rear is amazing and the boot space is fantastic for a car of its size. On our trip the boot was filled to its limit. I don't think any other car would have swallowed that much of luggage.  The ride too was comfartable specially in some of the bad roads in Mangalore...it seems like some of the roads in Mangalore will remain bad forever .

In fact the Logan was one of the options we considered when we wanted to sell off the Swift, but we were put off by the cheap looking dashboard, different looking controls for windows, wipers, bonnet and lights and the fact that the GLS and GLSX variants were off production(airbags and ABS were a strict requirement for us, though DLS and DLSX models were available)
