IMO its better to dispose off the Santro and get a new one. Spending lots of money (cost would be really high) in fixing the PS is not worth the salt.

Never mind what others say, do whats right for that moment!

Hi Guys, Been following your conversations on power steering. my sister has a 1999 santro without a power steering, i wanted to know if a power steering could be fitted on to it. if yes, where ? & how much would it cost.
Well, IMO not worth the exercise. The steering ratio will be different (tuned to give maximum comfort to driver without power assist) and changing it to power-assisted steering will involve major changes (and expense). In fact, non power assisted steering does have its advantages, foremost being simplicity and ease of maintenance, and lesser susceptibility to problems (a direct result of it being less complex).

Thankz Mods,

got same problem in my Santro Xing 2008 yesterday night (on turning stearing to either side at dead slow spead makes grinding noise).

Found power stearing fluid below minimum ,no signs of leakage , top up done (Waxpol Power stearing Fluid) but local car garage man says thers's leakage from stearing wheel oil seal which needs to be changed.

There was little drops of oil from underbody after top up (probably due to spill while topup was done),

Here i have a Question:

i think if stearing column seal leaks spill is found over driver side foot mat or brake paddle as you told in earlier post, What do you say about it, can i have underbody spill with malfunctioned stearing wheel seal.

Awaiting your reply,

meanwhile, Just sitting now with fingers crossed, to see further leakage if any.
