Dear Mods:

I would like to bring this to your attention. This would have been noted by many I suppose, since am just a 'newbie' here at carwale!!!

In the below mentioned link, I see three sticky threads.
Community » Forums » Announcements

But the same sticky threads are also repeated like normal threads, which can be avoided to have an organized look.

I will share my suggestions, then & thereby whatever that strikes would be of some help to this forum which is being used by numerous users...

Cheers,
Sai

I just happened to see the announcement section - there are 3 sticky threads and it is already a bit difficult to see the actual threads. So many times I have clicked a sticky thread when I actually wanted to see the thread below it. This will get worse as the no. of sticky threads increases.

Perhaps this defeats the purpose of having sticky threads - that they are sticky and will always remain on top and visible first but still, this is my suggestion: Have a box in which all sticky threads are clubbed together and the box can be expanded/collapsed. That way if someone wants to see the sticky thread s/he may expand the box. It will also neatly mark the sticky area so that users will be able to better differentiate the actual threads from the sticky ones. Of course this box still stays at the top - its now a sticky box, but since it can be collapsed and can have a border, from a usability perspective it will be better.

A good suggestion, I would say - to have 1 Sticky Box containing various sticky threads.

Or mayb create another category which would only provide threads based on tutorials, diy's and resolved questions?

One objection: Sticky threads contain information that needs to be at the back of mind for forum members. Today we have such a lack of awareness about forum rules and regulation, and then you go about hiding the places where info can be sought effortlessly - the sticky threads. Counterproductive, in my opinion.

Anyways, sticky threads occupy  a fraction of the first page of the forum. They don't matter if the member is required to go to the next page - the stickys will go away if the next page is accessed.

So Rohit, good suggestion overall,  but my objection from the POV of in-your-face support info.

We can have the rules thread sticky & un-clubbed, and the rest in a sticky box.

Edit:  By the way, currently we have 3 sticky threads.  Rules thread is made sticky to all sections while the other 2 sticky threads are restricted to Announcement Section only.

Yes Pankaj - that will ensure that things that must absolutely be seen/read remain visible all through and things that are not so critical (but common to the forum, and sticky) can be clubbed into a box.

I second Krishna. If we put the sticky threads in a collapsable box, it will defeat the purpose of making sticky threads. They are important and meant to be noticed quickly.

But I'm in favour of Rohit's suggestion of making the sticky threads look different/distinguished than normal threads. May be a little separation betweek the two types of threads, some colouring/border etc. Let me check what best can we do.

Sai had posted this suggestion long back but went unnoticed. Rohit's thread points out the same thing but was started later hence the two are merged.
