Alloy wheels

I dont agree with you. Alloy wheels are to some extent an integral part of car's performance, safety, longitivity etc. I would still say that it is not a direct contributor but it contributes in improving your car's milage, performance and safety to a huge extent.

1st alloys are much lighter than the stock fitted steel rims, hence providing better performance and milage.
2nd it is absolutely true that tubeless tyres find better grip on alloys rather than stock rims.

Having said that I would still say that most of the alloys present in the market donot solve the purpose because of the bad quality. Only the premium alloys are worth buying, all others would be no different than the stock steel rims.

Guys thanks a lot for responding to my query.Apart from the air leakage thing which i have mentioned ,the other thing i have read was about the Heat dissipitation.i have read its much better in alloys hence resulting in Longer life of the tyre.

It will be Great if you can throw some light on the airleakage from steel rims.

Thats the main thing why i wanna shift to Alloys ,coz donnt wanna get stranded in between highway on my trips.I usually drive on weekend and holidays and geerally go for long trips.

If air leakage is not the problems with the steel rims ,then seriously i don't wanna spend 20k for alloys.

hi Ranjeet , i dont think there is much of air leak of tubeless tyres in steel wheels , i have put tubeless tyre broader one and its in Steel wheel and its Simply FIne , i dint find any problem with that , and regarding the Air , i check it once evry month! i drive in higway and city too , so i myself fdint face any problem , in my last car which i used for 3 - 4 yrs , i had put tubeless tyre for the existing wheel and it was just fine!

I personally like the Alloys very much , but i dont sugest if really not necesary

Anyways if you are gonna put the alloys then go for the Plati , Aura or the HR brand ones!

What hav u decided abt your tyre ?

The reason why 'Air Leak' is an issue is because the nozzle, through which the air is inflated in the tyre, is simple resting between the tyre and the rim.

In case you are using steel rims the nozzle tends to slip when the air pressure in the tyre reduces considerably and still they are driven. In such a case the air tends to leak...this situation is less likely occur if you use alloys.

Regarding the tyre brand i was thinking about the follwing tyres

1.Bridgestone-B250,Potenza RE88 or GIII
2.Goodyear-Eagle Ventura,NCT
3.Michelin-XM1,Pilot Proceda
4.Appollo-Amazer,Accelor

While talking to a dealer he said that high Performance tyres are basically for Superior Grip and handling ,hence they use softer rubber compound,which inturn results in more wear and lessor life of, these tyres.

hence was wondering weather to go for high Performance tyres like PotenzaGII,NCT and others !

The Potenza G3 is simply wonderful and my dealer said l the life  of it is above 50k kms ( i am not sure though ) or else get the B250 , donot go for Apollo! a better alternative wud be the good year or michilin

They rate tires for all of the attributes. You can distinguish performance tires from all seasons and winter tires. This site is excellent and also educational

Unfortunately they may not have apollo. I am not sure if the brand names for the specific tires you are lookin gor are listed there....

you rite KK,eventhough the site is fantatstic ,its predominantly cater to the local markets there.Many of the Brand and tyre makes are not available in India.

I had previously visited the site.

Would be finalising in a day or two,but still a bit confused.cause dealer here are not able to give  a confident reply why one particular tyre is better than the other one

Hi guys
recently i bought Plati Alloy wheels(with Michelin XM1 tubeless tyres) for my new santro. i wanted a set of 5, bt the dealer said he will arrange the 5th one. It's been many weeks that it has not been arranged fr me. Can any one please give me the manufacturer's address so that i can directly contact them?
